  1. Increasing car prices during this time won't help anyone to sell anything imo but each to their own.
  2. So I just got off the phone with Lotus Silverstone, spoke to one of the tech's that actually worked on that car. It would seem that things are not as clear cut as the Specialist selling it said. The car has come in with an EML lit up (it was driven like that for 200 miles...) and then threw a rod during diagnostic test drive. It was also fitted with some "430" kit or whatever, different pulley and map to make more power and apparently ran lean hence what caused the issue. Sounds like a horror story to me, I mean it's a new engine and clutch, but having to explain all this to the next person when it comes to sale time is going to be a nightmare. I think it's worth a visit and test drive, but I guess there was a reason as to why it didn't sell since August 2019... Ffs just my luck I guess. After having a few lemon cars in my life , i am very cautions about what I buy and something doesn't seem right about this one. Shame as the spec is amazing.
  3. Hey bud, the i30N was good, It's reasonably fast, very practical and sounds great. Oh it's also rare and golf GTI owners mostly don't know what it is and get surprised when they try and have a go haha. I dropped it off at the dealer 2 weeks ago though so now looking for a new car. Thank you friend, I will indeed love to be a passenger in one. The only Lotus I've sat in was an old Elise and that was blisteringly quick. And yes I know it technically stands in a class of its own with the 2+2 layout at that price point, they seem to be holding their value rather well as well. Hey Tom That's good to know, I will definitely come to the next one once things settle down with this epidemic. As for the cars for sale, I am looking for a Manual only, very late car with all options ticked (so the 3 packs) or a Sports Racer ideally. I did enquire about the blue one actually, it does look nice but I'd prefer a later MY so don't mind waiting for the right car to pop up. I started a thread about an SR that I found, would love to hear your opinion on it, it has now been merged here:
  4. I will request all engine swap documentation and do some investigating. Good shout, thank you.
  5. It's being sold by a Lotus specialist, not a main dealer. I have no doubts about the car being an SR gents, my concern was more about the engine going pop at 10k miles! Does that mean it's been thrashed about or is it just pure luck? From the pictures, the tires look almost new (so probably changed) and the brake discs have no lip or anything, potentially also changed? If it has new discs at 13k that to me does not sound good, but until I go and view it I guess i won't know.
  6. Thank you mate, for sure I have open mind about any vehicle. I am not buying on spec as per say, but more on condition, mileage and general maintenance of the vehicle. A nice colour combo would be lovely but not a priority. Although if not an SR, it needs to have all 3 packs and be a manual so that limits things again somewhat.
  7. As an individual who is fortunate to work from home in an IT industry, this thankfully has no effect to me what so ever from a financial stand point. If anything the business is actually receiving more and more enquiries for VPN solutions and remote access consultancy ect. On the other hand, my other half works in a large retail chain so sooner or later they will most likely tell them to go home.. not sure if they'll be paid for that time off or not yet.
  8. Is this possible? If so I can grab the chassis number today off the dealer.
  9. Yeah I have no reason to believe it is not genuine but I will inspect closer when I go to see it. What do you think about the engine thing, is it something to run away from or is it a "positive" that it basically has a brand new engine?
  10. I was advised the black roof and sills were specifically ordered to be painted in body colour. Not sure about the exhaust piece, I will ask to get more clarification. Interior is a very nice place indeed. Thank you for the information!
  11. Hello all, I am currently looking at the following Evora S Sports Racer for sale: https://paulmattysportscars.co.uk/lotus-evora-s-sports-racer-4-v6/ I had a chat with the dealer and went into lengths about the vehicle's history, previous owners and general ownership observations. There is only one problem that I can see with otherwise an immaculate well presented vehicle and that is the engine. It has had an engine change 2000 miles ago, a brand new crate unit supplied and fitted by Lotus. The story goes something like this, at around 11k miles an EML light came on so the previous owner drove around for another day or two and then decided to take it to Lotus to diagnose. On the test drive the car decided to throw a rod and so a new engine was ordered and fitted. So in the grand scheme of things the car has only done 2k miles on this new unit and the dealer ensures me he has all the paperwork and invoicing to prove this. Having never owned a Lotus before but done enough research on the Evora, I thought the Toyota power plant used in this model is very reliable in the grand scheme of things? If so how come it went pop so quickly? As for previous owners, the car was owned by Lotus for almost 2 years and then sold to the owner that had the above done. The dealer took it as PX against an Elise, back in August 2019 and it has not sold since then. As for price there is definitely wiggle room but before I put my sales hat on I need to know I am not getting into a lemon... (yes yes it's yellow..) Any info on the car, feedback on the above or tips in general would be highly appreciated. Many thanks Stoycho
  12. Hello everyone! Thought I'd pop over and say Hi. I am currently in the market for an Evora S and have spent the last week or so looking at buyers guides, countless youtube reviews and absorbing lumps of information from this forum. I cannot believe how under appreciated this car is, but I can only guess that is largely due to it's crazy RRP when new compared to the likes of Porsche ect. Not much choice when it comes to buying a used one though since there is only a handful of them for sale but I believe they present great value for money if you want a drivers car with minimal driving aids. I live near Guildford in Surrey so hope to have some members reasonably close by for those early Sunday morning blasts! I will start a separate post on the car I am interested in to see if people recognise it. Thanks Stoycho
