  1. On UK TV tonight - BBC 1 20.00 hrs. https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/bbc-repair-shop-experts-shaken-32706759
  2. Update - a local mechanic took the wheel off - did a fiddle - cleaned everything up and now all OK. He has advised me to get brake hoses replaced at next service.
  3. Thanks all. Got a mechanic coming to take a look tomorrow and will update on here the latest.
  4. Fired up my X180 for the first time since November and went for a spin. After a few minutes sensed car was pulling to the left. After a few more minutes my wife said she could smell burning. Pulled over. Nearside front wheel smoking. Called for recovery and car now in my garage. Have an engineer coming to take a look on Wednesday. Any steers or ideas? Car had C service last summer. No warning lights. Events ruined my day.... Car has been in garage (warm) under cover since November. That BRAKES not BREAKS... LOL
  5. I have found priming when cold works but priming when hot does not. Hope that makes sense.
  6. I used the repair kit (in the above post) on my Stevens which had the same issue. It sorted the problem!
  7. These guys looked after me and my car for a number of years - until we moved - and are superb.
  8. I have a 88 Stevens X180. Every year the car has been put to bed over the winter in a dry area - attached to charger. Touch wood - no problems with first fire-up on or around the start of April - after being put to sleep end of October. It always has a six month oil change on top of Lotus service plan. Hope that helps.
  9. Had a factory tour a few weeks ago. Today - we were VERY kindly allowed back to Hethel to take some pictures of my 88 Stevens. Here are a few - which I hope the forum likes. MANY thanks to Lotus Cars for MAKING MY YEAR!
  10. Hi all, A steer please. Just been out for a spin in my 88 (RHD) Stevens. Attempted to flash someone to say thank you and noticed offside pop up headlight sort of wobbled and did not come up properly. Got home and turned headlights on - same problem. Can hear the motor (lights motor) running fine - but I have the wobbles. Nearside light strut was replaced a year or two ago and all fine. Do I need same doing offside? Any suggestions - would be fab.
  11. I was at the factory on Wednesday. The last vehicle factory I visited had been Red Bull F1 in MK and Lotus in Hethel was JUST as busy. Loads and loads of new cars - many LHD - being produced. Also witnessed something electric on the test track. I was told they had hit 180 m.p.h. the day before. This thing FLEW - and looked like it was on rails...
  12. Had mine done by Allon White. Simply superb.
  13. Some time back I asked on the forum for any steers of relocating my X180 from Bedfordshire (old address) to Suffolk. Someone asked me to update everyone with how everything went. https://autoclassicastorage.co.uk/ have had the car over the winter (the go-to place for car storage) and Nick arranged for https://allonwhite.co.uk/ to pick it up for C service, MOT and new seats. Allon White discovered some issues: Carried out MOT Replaced front springs and dampers Replaced rear suspension arm bushes Replaced rear wishbone bushes Replaced non-working windscreen washer pump Replaced corroded coolant header tank Freed up nearside front brake which was binding Replaced rear tyres that had age related cracking Replaced worn engine mounts Replaced fuel pipes under car that had deteriorated Investigated misfire and replaced leads Investigated cutting out whilst hot - replaced coil Remove/refitted engine from car to facilitate the following works: Replace rear main oil seal Reseal cam carriers which have oil leaks Replace driveshaft oil seals Replace gearbox selector oil seal Replace clutch which was unevenly worn Replace flywheel which had been damaged due to uneven clutch wear Additional time was needed for the cam carriers as one of the securing bolts was seized and needed to be drilled out. Also the bearings in the gear translator assembly were difficult to remove and replace A total of 46 hours was worked but we have only charged for 37 hours. So, with a lot of work carried out, my pride and joy was ferried to our new home last night. Transport arranged by Allon White (half the cost of other quotes). To say I am thrilled to have the car back is an understatement. Yes, got a big bill but that comes with the territory. Some images of the new seats attached. Got to say a MASSIVE thank you to all parties for everything. I am now broke and my wife is going to get her revenge at the garden centre - have you seen the prices of large pots?
  14. Got a bunch of quotes ranging from 250 to 400. Took the least expensive. The people doing the gig came with great refs from the peeps doing the service. I will keep the forum posted after the event!
  15. Thanks everyone. This issue now sorted. Yet again, this forum a lifesaver.
  16. Don't know if anyone can help - but this forum has always been fab in answering my daft questions. We are in the process of moving from Bedfordshre to Suffolk. My Esprit is being picked up from Storage and getting its C service and MOT at the end of June. I then need it to be (safely) transported from Beds to Suffolk. Does anyone know peeps (who know what they are doing) who are good at this sort of service? I cast my net out on the internet to some "classic car transportation" folk - one has (so far) responded with a quote of £435. That seems a little steep to me (will gladly take it on the chin if forum users say that's the going rate). Anyway - thought I'd ask...
