  1. a new engine harness was fitted in 2019 but the part of the harness that goes to the gearbox was touching one of the driveshafts (not visible until the air filter box was removed) and had chaffed through the insulation causing an intermittent connection. This was fixed and an output speed sensor in the gearbox was replaced. Also, it was found that the IPS plug is on the outside of the gearbox, was on but not securely. it was also fixed. but still, we get all these codes ..
  2. update. today drove for 1.8 miles and got "MIL" & "Check transmission" lights illuminated again. Codes this time are: P0700, P0717, P1613. not clearing anything. No P0721 this time. seems like a never-ending story.
  3. I had the output speed sensor in the gearbox replaced recently and have done only 100 miles since. Last weekend took the car for a short drive and after about 15 minutes of driving in very slow-moving traffic (15-25 mph) got on my dashboard "MIL" & "Check transmission" lights illuminated. I stopped the car after about 4 miles, connected OBDLink code reader and got P0700 , P0721 codes. Then I reset the codes (to avoid limp home mode) and drove at 50-80 mph (with and without Sport mode) for about 40 minutes. No errors, no lights. Has anyone had something similar? Should I hope this was a one-off and ignore or this is serious and I have to go back to the garage for the 4th time in the last 3 months ... thanks
  4. BCA (trade auction site ) action today for LOTUS EVORA 3.5 V6 400 Coupe - NK65 FDP .. seems like the car has some issues (Fault - WHEELS ARE STAGGERED) .. probably some dealer has taken PX and wants to sell it quick
  5. we had the engine harness replaced years ago and now IPS gets stuck in 3rd; the error code suggests we have a problem with the gearbox speed sensor and someone said it will take about 3 days (undertray, valve block, gear selector motor) to replace the gearbox speed sensor and fully service transmission gearbox ( checking oil levels at 40 degrees). I am just trying to understand the cost of doing this. Looks like around £2,5K is about right?
  6. Does anyone know how many hours it takes to replace gearbox speed sensor on IPS evora S 2013 model ? Just trying to understand the cost . Part is about £360
  7. IMHO: it's about a mechanic doing the actual job, not so much about the brand. Have had a good experience with https://www.barryelysportscars.co.uk/ only because I always deal with Barry who works on my car himself; one of the dealers (mentioned a few times in the above threads) messed up harness replacement a few years back which resulted in the following
  8. that's exactly what I thought. low mileage, decent service history, few extras and only 2 owners. Lotus dealer would ask for 45K+ I assume
  9. Does the price seem very reasonable? or not? https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/16586471
  10. I guess this is not supercharged version SLS636.pdf
  11. here is another car becoming available https://www.barryelysportscars.co.uk/showroom/lotus-evora--s-ips-(auto) purchased mine from Barry and has been happy with the service he has provided. had few small issues post-purchase and Barry fixed them all in no time
  12. here is what our mechanic said .. seems like engine harness was not installed properly ...
  13. found an interesting comment on another forum. Anyone with Evora IPS pre 2013 can comment on that ? ”The engine wiring harness is a "known issue" related to all Evora's produced before late 2013. The parts manufacturer was changed in late 2013 and any Evora's produced after that time should have the new wiring harness and therefore should not experience these types of issues. However, if they were built with the old engine wiring harness, then they are subject to this problem as well. Lotus is NOT doing a recall for this at this time.” https://www.lotustalk.com/threads/transmission-issues-resolved-everyone-with-an-evora-should-read-this.301385/
  14. Our gearbox stuck in 5th, then it tried to shift to 3rd ( saw screen flashing from 5th to 3rd to 5th ) but stayed on 5th. I am happy with the service provided by barry ely sports cars who seems to be wiling going extra mile to get this sorted. Very knowledgeable mechanic. It is just me trying to research what may fail next so we can look at it while car is at the garage .
