  1. Holy Cow! I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter! I certainly hope she is ok. It certainly makes you wonder about our society as a whole when something like this can happen. I have a coworker who home schools his children (all 7 of them) and I'll ask if he has any advice or references. Where are you located? Its quite likely that home educating children here in the U.S. is different from other parts of the world. But I'll pass on any information I can gather. Best wishes for you and Claudia. -Stephen
  2. This ones for Bigsi who recently traveled to our side of the pond to spend some time at Disneyworld. The marriage between Mickey Mouse and Minnie had come to an end and they were in court getting their divorce. The judge was looking over the divorce papers and says to Mickey, "I see here in your petition for a divorce that you think Minnie is crazy". "No your Honor" Mickey replies. "I didn't say she was crazy, I said she was f***ing Goofy!!!!"
  3. Do you still have to respect your car the next morning?
  4. Periodically I've seen some windscreens for sale on E-bay. You might want to keep you eyes open and check from time to time. If I recall correctly I think the asking price was a little over $500. Good luck! Just added. There is a used windscreen for sale currently on E-bay. Its for a G-esprit (1985 I think) but its possible that it is the same on the Steven's model. I don't know. The auction number is 280233267546.
  5. I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. But I have to admit that I am very excited to see what your Esprit turns into after the rebuild! Defintely looking forward to following your rebuild posts. -Stephen
  6. I'm in the same situation. My shocks are leaking so I am currently looking for a new setup. I've been looking at the Protech setup because of the affordability but I'm also looking at the AVO setup. Would it be safe to use the original springs with new AVO shocks? Thanks, Stephen
  7. Wow! I actually feel normal after reading that article. I guess I'm not that screwed up after all!
  8. Thanks everyone for your help and advice. I'm currently looking into my options when it comes to springs and shocks. Right now I think the new Lotus Eibach/Bilstein combo is at the top of my list. But I might have to save a while to afford them. Thanks again, Stephen
  9. Hi everyone, I've owned my 1990 Esprit SE for almost a year and I've noticed that it feels very unstable on rough uneven pavement. My car wants to dart around a lot when I hit a rough section of road. I have had the wheels aligned and that helped but it still can be a handful. My mechanic noticed that the shocks were leaking fluid but didn't think they were too bad. Could this be causing my car to handle poorly on rough roads? If I replace the shocks will that help settle the car down? It handles great on smooth roads. Thanks for your help. -Stephen
  10. Has anyone here seen the movie Donnie Darko? I just finished watching it and I'm not really sure what to make of the movie. Perhaps I shouldn't have had those Sam Adams Cream Stouts but I don't know if it was one of the best movies I've seen . . . or the worst. At least I can take comfort in knowing my Lotus goes in tomorrow for a new clutch while I'm away on business. Hope everyone's having a great weekend, Stephen
  11. Are you bidding on the glass roof on E-Bay? I saw it for sale and I'm watching it just to see what it goes for. At some point I'd like to get a glass roof, just not right now. Let us know if you get it and how it fits your 89SE. Good luck! -Stephen
  12. Wow! That sounds awesome! I've been thinking about decatting my Magnaflow exhaust system for a while now. While I don't think it will be as loud as your exhaust (bigger muffler) your video gives me some idea what to expect. You need to make a video of your Esprit driving with that exhaust. I'm very curious what it sounds like on the open road. I bet it sounds wonderful!!! -Stephen
  13. On the Lotus Esprit World website they have the fuel capacity listed at 73L (16 Gal).
  14. I found myself in a similar position a year ago when I bought my 1990 SE. It was a very clean car but had no records or service history with it. You have probably seen the sage words of wisdom about not purchasing a car without a well documented history. Knowing the risk I went ahead and purchased my Esprit because it was the car I've always wanted. But I had to spend about $6000 in maintanance and repairs because the age of the timing belt was unknown and several items had been neglected by the previous owner. I would like to tell you to purchase the car since they are becoming harder to find and they need to be preserved by caring owners but . . . as the saying goes "If there is doubt, then there is no doubt". If your gut feeling is to keep looking then I would follow your gut. Keep looking until you find one that is exactly what you want and hopefully it will have a complete service history too. Hope this helps and good luck in your search!
