  1. Sorry, I have to admit this is mine! I couldn't resist this number plate when it came up for €100
  2. Thanks Guys Lots of very important information there. I quite like the look of the Machine Mart crane. Ill be over in London over the weekend, so ill pop in and have a look at one. Im sure others will find this info very important too. BTW Buddsy, thats one very clean looking engine.
  3. Hi Guys The time has come again to buy some more garage bits... Im looking at getting myself an engine crane. Does anyone have any experience in choosing one of these. I want to get one with a long enough jib so that i can remove the engine from my esprits, both Stevens and Guiguaro. i have seen a few on ebay and on the machine mart website. so claim to be "Long Reach". Does anyone know how long the jib needs to be to be comfortably safe from the rear bumper? Hope someone can help. Cos
  4. I'm looking to replace the decal of GT3. From what I can tell from the parts manual, A082U7837F was only available in GREY, but most of the pics I have seen, the decal definitely looks black. Can someone have a look at theirs and tell me what colour it is.
  5. Hi again guys. My GT3 has been somewhat neglected and left covered in the garage for the last few years while I have been busy with the other car. I am now planning to take it to a spray shop to get some work done to it. Does anyone know where I can get the GT3 decal that goes along the bottom of the doors and front wing? I hope someone can help Cos
  6. does anybody know where i can get an oil pressure sender for an S1. I am using one from another type of car and it is showing me a very low reading. I have tried bypassing the system with a mechanical gauge, and the reading is normal. Cos
  7. Hi Bibs and Gordon Yes, I had the wheels on my S1 diamond cut. It's done on a machine that is set with the profile settings of the wheel. The process is like a lathe. The final finish is left bare, so very good quality wax must be used regularly. I use Rim Wax
  8. Hi Mark. It's looking really good. Hope your enjoying yourself working on your esprit. I thoroughly did. Hope a pic of a finished car gives you even more motivation. Regards Cos
  9. Happy Birthday Matt. I thought you were a good mechanic until I came across this amazing one :-) All the best mate, Cos
  10. I had one on my silver GT3 when I got it. Hated it from the start. One it was gone, car looked much better. Also, the tailgate now opens on its own when I pull the lever inside the car. Before it would only pop up an inch, and then I would have to heave it up! OFF WITH THE LEAD SPOILER!
  11. What on earth have they done to that poor excel! Mind you, it's not as bad as what they did to that Aston in the Movie :-)
  12. S1 gearbox oil

  13. I have a prototype too Got it from a guy who made it for lotus in the early 70's. Used as a wind tunnel test model. it 1/4 excactly. https://picasaweb.google.com/112879500100834378754/1in4Scale?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCOunrfic2unU8wE&feat=directlink
  14. Sorry. I know it's a bit long, I didn't expect it to take that long.
  15. Hi guys The esprit now has its original engine refitted and should be started quite soon. I made a little vid on you tube.
  16. I see. So they seem to have worked. They o ring groove sounds like a good idea too. But I imagine that the covers again need to be perfectly straight or else they will leak. Has anyone had any bad experiences with the rubber seals available yet?
  17. Hi guys Some bloke on eBay is selling rubber gaskets for lotus 900 series engines. Seems like a good idea, but has anyone actually fitted any? He says in his description that the covers have to be straight. I imagine that they should be made of a soft silicon if they are to make a seal between 2 cast surfaces.
  18. Done some research. The diameter of the thread is 7/8". The size of the socket should be 1-5/16 for the nut. Does anyone know the type of thread used these?
  19. I just sent Mike Taylor an email. Just in case though! Does anyone know the size and thread on the stub axle? I am really worried now!
  20. That's what I thought, but Steve told me he has fitted 100s and has never had a problem . He told me to find out the thread size and try tapping the threads again! Seems very strange to me. No that useful really! Desperately trying to find my old nuts in the garage! But they have vanished into thin air!
  21. Hi Guys The esprit S1 restoration is coming along well, seeing as I haven't been over to London much. The rear suspension is now all back together, part from the rear hub nuts. I couldn't fint the original ones I took off, and I had a new pair I bought from SJS. Problem is, when I went to fit them, they go on for the first thread, then they seem to get really tight. I can't for the life of me though understand why! Has anyone else had this problem before?
  22. Hi Guys Have ordered some Provenance Certificates for my brother Roddy's lotus esprit and éclat from Andy Graham. It's his Xmas present. Very easy to do, just drop Andy a call, and he'll help you out. Anyhow, thought I would also get one for my gt3. And Andy told me that it was first owned by Lotus, and that they used it in the London Motor Show at Earls Court in October 1997. It is a silver car. I was hoping that someone might have a photo of the lotus stand back then. I think digital cameras were just starting back then, so might not be many photos. I would love to see a photo of it. If you think you have some, please let me know. C.herodotou@cytanet.com.cy Cheers!
