  1. Rog I think you should stop eating the chocolate now - it seems to be having an effect on you.... Move away from the chocolate..... At what point can I get away with saying that teachers have way too much holiday ?!?!
  2. Rog Click on Ian's link above - its the solution for us R12 boys who need an environmentally friendly refrigerant without retrofitting a R134a system. BTW thanks to Ian for producing that superb guide
  3. So it DID turn out to be an SE afterall.... You sly dog Jono - trying to put us off going to buy it ahead of you Anyways, the steering on the non-power steering cars IS very heavy and would be made worse no doubt by those bigger, wider rims so your experience with this car doesn't sound out of the ordinary. Removing the spare wheel from the front lightens things up considerably and is a popular 'mod' for the SE boys !! Taking into account all the things you've mentioned, I reckon it could still be a good project for you as you'll do all the work yourself and I didn't think things like a tatty interior bothered you as you want to use the car for track days and the like. Just my 2p worth but I doubt you'll find another reasonable SE for that kind of money.
  4. Russell - mine's a September 1989 G reg SE and it has left hand exit. Mark - the non-burr dash doesn't necessarily mean anything as I've seen several SE's with the black dash where owners have swapped away from the wood as it cracks so easily. My money is on this one being a genuine SE. Could be that the dealer doesn't know about the marque, took the car as a p/x, and priced it from Glass's which, as we know, values Esprits at less than a 1p sweet.... Could be a right bargain and exactly what you're after Jono.
  5. Jono Which DVLA search are you using that shows the model ??? Cos I've just used the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry search and that doesn't specify model. Just wanna use the same search on my car that you used so I can verify whether SE's actually show up as SE's as I don't think they do. My V5 only has Turbo on it NOT Turbo SE. And that car you're considering defo looks like an SE. Correct bodywork, correct interior etc etc
  6. Wow - I've touched your car I obviously apologise for any greasy fingerprints that may remain on the gleaming paintwork
  7. Jono Have you tried contacting Ken Baird ?? He's got an original S300 in his collection, lives in Hertfordshire and could well be the contact you need. His LEW owners page I was lucky enough to see an S300 at the motor show at Earls Court in the early 90's. Touched it and everything..... Life changing experience
  8. Mike is definitely right. I remember seeing it on eBay as well a few months back. I'd steer clear of it as well if you value your knee caps.... I do like the colour though B)
  9. Clockwise on M25 around the A320 Chertsey junction. Looked like Jez's car but may be wrong ?!?! Anyway, you can never tire of seeing the beautiful wedge amongst the thousands of dull cars on the M25
  10. I agree with Richard - the front kit doesn't need to include the reverse inhibitor block. On my 72k mile car the block is completely undamaged so I don't need it. If Lotus decide not to offer the kit without the block then I'll be looking into buying the rest of the items in the kit individually to get the cost down. Fitting the rear translator kit isn't a difficult job. Removing the boot floor is a must and then you have direct access from the top to all the bits you need to swap out. On my car, the bit that took the most time was cleaning all the crap and grease off the surrounding area and retained parts. All in all probably took me a couple of hours including stopping occasionally for coffee !! Just doing the rear kit didn't make any real noticeable difference to the gearchange so I took the tunnel trim off and had a look at the gearlever end. You can see clear movement where the various bushes and things are so the 'stirring custard' effect I experience can solely be attributed to this hence my desire to buy the kit to fix this. Getting the whole gearlever mechanism out of the tunnel looks quite fiddly so I imagine it will take at least half a day to get this job done.
  11. I've just fitted the PNM kit and it went together very easily. To be honest I think they're all much the same. You don't get any more bits in the newly released Lotus kit so I don't see any reason to pay twice the price for it !! The new Lotus gearlever master unit overhaul kit.... now thats a different matter. I'm about to place my order for that
  12. Hi Jono I've just witnessed the same issue with a friend's Omega TD (not in the same league but the principle is the same !!). He likes to tweak things to get the best out of his cars and had just fitted a catch tank. Took it for a spin, got back home, looked under the bonnet, oil everywhere and dipstick popped out. Removed the catch tank straight away, went for another spin and hey presto problem solved. It appears the catch tank that was fitted wasn't capable of dealing with the pressures from the crankcase. May be a red herring but have you tried disconnecting the catch tank ??
  13. A friend spotted it, took a pic on his phone and sent it to me. Unfortunately a bit blurry so can't make out the reg. Anyone here ??
  14. Did you have a cat bypass pipe fitted as part of the exhaust replacement hence the fact these nuts have been removed ?? If that is the case then Torque Technique must be responsible for the missing nuts. They've clearly just forgotten to put the nuts back on which is pretty much unforgivable. Also, if this joint isn't sealed properly you will probably have noticed that the car runs fairly badly as the lambda sensor will be giving some strange readings because air will be getting in/out just before the sensor. I think the nuts are M8 from memory (although don't take this as read) - I suggest you pop down to a hardware store to get some replacements so that at least you can keep using the car and not have to worry about returning to Salisbury. Defo worth some stern words though - seems very strange though as Bibs raves about the quality of their work.
  15. Any reason why you're now selling it ?!?!? Link to Ebay Auction
  16. If it was Cat D in 1999 when the car was only a year old (and therefore worth a lot of money), it must have suffered some pretty severe damage....
  17. Hi I've downloaded and run the exe on my PDA and got the same error as Jon but I too can see the program fine. I haven't actually hooked it up to the ALDL cable yet due to a lack of appropriate cable For info, I've got a Dell Axim X30 624mhz processor running PocketPC 2003 SE. Jono - fancy meeting up at some point soon to try to get this working ?? JollyRoger - thanks for the work so far. Its looking fantastic
  18. I've got these on the back of my SE. I've had no problems with them but then I don't go out in the wet and don't push the car to its real limits. Have had it sideways a couple of times but I'd put that down to the driver not the tyres B)
  19. You're right - the pics are of the car that Nick Warren was selling on eBay that ended on 14th Jan hitting reserve price. View the auction here Wreaks of dodginess if you ask me. Not on the part of Nick I must add as there's plenty of happy punters who've bought cars from him before.
  20. There'd better not have been a For Sale sign in the window
  21. I guess its running at full boost now ?!?!?
  22. I think my presence is required at the Edwards house - my mystic powers seem to have a positive effect on proceedings
  23. Your thread still exists Wayne - Click Here I gather people still visit it occasionally as a shrine to you.... Welcome back.
  24. But surely talking about anything that would whoop the arse off an Esprit HAS to be out of bounds ?!?!? Horizontal mounted engines... <mutter mutter>
