  1. Lovely looking machine, roll work on the bonnet looks fantastic
  2. Also, check the pos battery cable to terminal,, Very rare but can happen, the thick pos wire snaps at the terminal meeting point, still provides a current reading as the broken bits of thick battery cable slighty touch, but not enough to provide enough current for cranking.
  3. New paintwork looks stunning, always nice to put the Lotus badge on, wheels look top notch also, this will be a lovely car to own and you will benefit from knowing it inside out too, which is an added bonus. Keep up the great work and the pics coming too
  4. Awesome Jim, Glad its in safe hands, Fantastic car and very well known in the retro car scene also. Any future plans with her mods wise , i know Charlie was always pondering putting a modern V8 in it .?
  5. Looks awesome Daniel, well worth the effort, and if you are enjoying doing even better, that is what proper classic car ownership is all about lol. As for the chassis butchery, Get some sheet steel, maybe 1mm thicker than the stuff already on there, cut it overlapping the hole about an inch in that shape, drill for holes in the sheet near each corner, and weld four nuts on. have it so it sits on the inside and is held in by four bolts .
  6. I was always under the impression that the pre 85 Front brakes came from the Triumph/british leyland parts bin i.e gt6 etc ?
  7. Ford vs Ferrari, Looks fantastic, some great actors in the line up and decent budget by the looks of it , and some lovely cars and soundtrack, really looking forward to this one, Think Christian Bale has had some voice coaching of the lead chap in the Peaky Blinders !
  8. Welcome to the forums, car looks stunning, good choice of colour for the sun over there also.
  9. Good work Peter, If the otter switch is the same as fittment type as the Esprit, many folks used one cable tie fitted each side of the switch to aid the very weak design of the stainless retaining clip
  10. On a conversion Engine Eric, so cant help with the sizes sadly, someone will pop up with the sizes soon Eric i am sure.
  11. Plenty of folks on here have considered building one of those Marc, spare bodyshell, bit of glasswork, lots of expanding foam and an outboard motor, probably the cheapist way of been Bond lol . Mike, looking at the pics of your v8, is the door beam this way on the later esprits or did you have these built ?
  12. As Henry says, the cut out was on the bodyshell maybe a few months into the s3 production run
  13. I did the electrical oil presuure sender and gauge, due to the engine conversion, simple wire through the bulkhead, the only slight headache was finding an adapter for the switch on the engine side, to be honest, i think it is a good upgrade for the esprir, as the modern classic looking smiths gauges will still blend in with the rest of the dash guages and you will avoid the risk of the pipe splitting in the future . I am sure also ii can remember a post of someone on here who replaced that plastic pipe for a braiided one ?
  14. I think these are great little cars, think off memory a lot had a few engine problems for some reason ? Not sure why though as Toyota engines are normally very well put together, The MK3 Mr2 changed so much though from the mk1 and mk2, it ended up looking like a modern touch on the mgf imo Enjoy , should make a fun little run around
  15. As Chris says above, SJ is the one for these badges
  16. Welcome to the forums Ed, awesome looking car, enjoy
  17. Hi Phil, Heat gun would be your best bet imo, but personally i would replace it, they can split behind the binnacle also, but as yours has perished engine bay side i would replace it to be on the safe side as the plastic has seen better days i would presume, just degraded with age and heat
  18. Welcome to the forums, looks really nice, hopefully an easy recomission and then get it back on the road and enjoy
  19. It is an S2, As that picture you just posted shows metal raar quarter glass frames
  20. I think S2 also, easy way would be to check for the top rear suspension links missing
  21. Mark I am so sorry for your loss of your daughter and cant begin to imagine what you are going through, my thoughts are with you and your wife at the moment.
  22. Welcome to the forums, good luck on the search
  23. Welcome to the forums, As Bibs says see if you can rent a garage, a lot of small classic car storage providers are popping up now also at reasonable rates. Strong winds by the sea will always be a nightmare for any cover as dust and debris will always get in underneath and end up on the cars surface, causing scratches when it settles on the paintwork and the cover moves , no matter how good the cover is. Also as Bibs says, sea air is no friend to any car left outside sadly
