We are heading back over the tops via Tomontoul shortly, will keep an eye out for him. Ah yes Tut, many a frazzled Sunday morning trying to keep up with him, or not, on the club runs. These are most definitely some epic roads, more suited to the Elige than my Esprit. And certainly not my Volvo 😅

Very over steery round the top roundabout, this afternoon, no doubt heading for the Tomintoul road, very loudly. I was in the Volvo XC70 approaching the roundabout from the North. No doubt I didn't register with you at all 😄

Yep, that was the 60th. Back in the day when this was just the Esprit forum. But the 70th in 2018 was a far grander affair and gave a hint at the support Geely were about to drop on Hethel. Really enjoyed that one. Looking forward to the 80th in 2028. I'll be in the the same car that won Car of the Show in 2008...

I have to agree, but I am rather biased. Probably the only V8 I've seen recently that I would consider. I could swap it for mine and SWMBO would never know 😆 (yes dear, I've just upgraded the wheels and refurbed the interior......)

I do envy you chaps with the early orders and imminent delivery. The extended wait, the poor comms, the lack of information - all that will be forgotten I'm sure as you take your first drives. Memories are short. For years Crossrail was an over budget, late and hugely inconvenient (to Londoners at least) overblown engineering project. I used it, as the Elizabeth Line that it now is, for the first time last week. My god what a marvel. Fast, smooth, comfortable, cool light, airy stations and corridors. Bearing in mind it was the hottest week of the year (of history?) it was frankly a delight to be down there! Crossrail? What was that, no idea........ Enjoy your cars, I for one am very envious.

Agree it's odd this has come out now. All the pre-production drives were a couple of months ago. The Evo road trip was indeed to the South of France. Given the expected weather in the Alps Lotus provided the tour set up, which unfortunately got taken to Anglesey as soon as he got back..... So, at least we have the French trip to look forward to. Henry is superb at these. I love his laid back but analytical style. He knows his stuff. The last Home Run he did was a McLaren GT to the seat of Bruce McLaren's ancestors in Balquidder via the Dukes Pass. Highly recommended, even if it's not a Lotus.

Catchpole's written piece for EVO seems to be the most sensible I've seen so far. He takes it across France to Monaco, via some of my favourite places and the Route Napoleon, which is a great drive even in a dull hire car. He doesn't exactly rave about it, but certainly loves the car and is hugely complementary about the overall package. Looking forward to his Carfection video. As for the tyre choice, it was not a mistake by Lotus. They fitted the Goodyear's as they were expecting heavy rain down through the Alps. Perfectly sensible in my view. Unfortunately they then headed straight to Anglesey.......
