  1. Looks like you've got worse problems than a weathered VIN plate... Contact Lotus Cars USA, there are forms and such to be filled out, but they should be able to help. Last I checked it was 1-800-24-LOTUS.
  2. FreeScan will indeed work woth any Delco-injected Esprit.
  3. DOT 5 is silicone, and should only be used to shine your tires. Or tyres. DOT 5.1 is a synthetic that can be used in place of DOT 3 or DOT 4, hence is OK to use. DOT 4 is what it came with, and the minimum spec for the system.
  4. Hi Lucas, Should be 60mm for all cars '89-later. Lotus changed the fronts on the S4 to 58mm because they feared people might put the rear wheels on the front.
  5. You've already got the rear rings on your driveshafts as shown in Jonathans pics, one is currently in use for the road speed sensor. Drill a hole in each hub carrier for the new sensors and you're good to go. The front rings are press fit onto the rear of the hubs, behind the brake disc. Your existing hubs may or may not have the necessary step machined into them. The ring itself should be readily avalable from Lotus, as are new hubs if needed. The sensors can mount to the backing plates. Here's a pic of the ring, I can't find one of the hub. The teeth face inwards, towards the centre of the car.
  6. Did you try Lotus for the repair kit? I got a rebuild kit from them a while back, includes literally everything except the casting and reservoir, and all the fiddly bits are preassembled. Of course, they may be out of them now, but it's worth checking. Part number A082J6082F. The actual master cylinder is no longer available, which caused me no end of grief, as I had to have mine resleeved.
  7. I've seen the Toyo 305's mounted on the Esprit V8 rims, but I don't know if he had any rubbing issues. He was very happy with them. I'd hate to be the tire installer... Let me know how you make out, as I'm in a smilar dilemna. I need either V8 sizes, or V8 fronts/315-35R17 rears.
  8. The Euro lenses will not directly fit the US housings. They can be modified to fit, mainly the screww bosses have to be shortened.
  9. Well, not quite. It reveals a flat blank expanse of fiberglass with four rivnuts for the number plate. You're going to have to get out the saw for this project...
  10. Not quite -- there's a lot to that gear. See my pictorial at http://home.earthlink.net/~turboesprit/headlight/index.html.
  11. Remove the number plate fasteners, then remove four small screws from the inside. Should pop right off, albeit it may be stuck on with grime.
  12. That looks like it would be a direct replacement for the factory piece.
  13. The fittings on the oil cooler adapter are 5/8" BSP male.
  14. Yours are a copy of my design, if I am not mistaken. Correct?
  15. Hi all, I've just had a batch of circuit boards made for my world-famous ALDL cable design, for use with Andy Whittaker's even more world-famous FreeScan engine monitoring program. These are the only ALDL cables specifically made for the 4-cylinder Lotus Esprit with GM ECM, featuring circuitry that is entirely contained within the DB-9 connector shell. The newly designed board is even more robust than my previous model, dozens of which are in use all over the world. I have a few cables available for immediate purchase. In a few weeks, WC Engineering will have these available for purchase as well. Contact me offlist for more info. Cheers, Sanj
  16. It sounds like you had a different set in your car, what you describe sounds like the new ones are the correct part.
  17. John from WC Engineering converted his to a stock '90 non-ABS system. Unfortunately, as I found out when trying to replace my bad master cylinder, the parts are no longer available from Lotus, and nobody I have talked to can find a direct replacement. I ended up having to have mine sleeved. Cheers, Sanj
