Pyrenees trip

Hi folks,

in June, me and my 3-11 will be on a trip through the French Alpes (starting from Grenoble) together with some Porsche pals. Thereafter, I'm about to go for another trip to the Pyrenees. Does anyone have experinences and advices for this region? Would anyone be interested in joining me? I'm talking about cw26/19 (starting from June 23).

If there's porkers there I would be out. Wouldn't want to be embarrassed stopping and cutting peoples hair every few miles!

I had a great drive in my Elite across the Pyrenees in 2017 en route to the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. If I'd had more time, I'd have visited Andorra. The roads I took weren't particularly fast as they were pretty windy on the mountainous bits but a great experience nonetheless. In a 3-Eleven I'm sure it would be fantastic; my advice is to start as early in the morning as you can to avoid heavy traffic. Skip breakfast - it's worth it!

Castellane to Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon over the D952 is a very nice drive,  the southern alps/verdon natural park is a nice place to drive and in between Grenoble and the south.

Completed my roadtrip down there in December and saw one car every two hours...admittedly it was meant to be snow season so those roads are usually closed...

know that area south of Grenoble, it's really great, have been there in June 2017, when I had  my (1,900 km) Route des Grandes Alpes trip from Lake Geneve down to Menton (close Monaco), including the famous Tour de France passes (Iseran, Galibier, Izoard, Madeleine, Cayolle, ...) as well as Col de Turini. This area is absolutely stunning, not at all crowed. The only thing to keep in  mind is the availability of RON98 fuel 😟.

To be honest: prior to my planned Pyrenees trip, I will have a deja-vu  with this area, starting from Grenoble for a 3-days trip together with my 3 Porsche pals (who deliver a remarkable escortage for my 3-Eleven 🙂)

As you are in the area you absolutely must drive the L-511 from Col de Nargo to Isona, south of La Seu d'Urgell.  If it doesn't fit neatly into the the circular route then you can turn around and do it again 😁.  It's one of the highlights in the area.

I'd really recommend Pau. It's a beautiful city. 

It's also a street circuit but i don't think there is any racing on the weekend you are there

From Pau, take the D940 to Lourdes, stop off there for Lunch, again a magical town. 

From Lourdes the D821 to Argeles Gazost and from there the D921 to Luz Saint Sauveur. Absolutely wonderful road. And not ofter busy if you are early enough. 

From there you'll have to go back on yourself a bit on D918 towards Arreau and you can cross into Spain if you like around Tramazeigues.

I did the Lourdes tour around the Pyrenees some 12 years ago in scobby STi had a hoot going up the mountain roads 

I took the ferry across to Santander then drove on the Spanish side over to Lourdes then around the area and back to ferry.

i fancy doing a similar trip but going to Fatima in Portugal as that northern regions of Spain and Portugal are largely unspoilt ?
