I hope that this will be my penultimate post on the rebuild.

The new main coolant radiator fabrication and installation into the frame has been completed. The core is huge in comparison to the original OEM radiator - this should represent the end of any cooling issues ! :crybaby:

The engine is now scheduled to be fired-up on Friday when the Motec guy is next available.

As usual, here are some images and comparisons:

Mike, you should ask some of my teachers in the university. Those types of official government-run facilities have special conditions. Lets make a "university test car" for dynamic driving test from your car... :)

It looks fantastic Mike, so can that fit straight in length wise for std V8 set-up, id imagine some mods to accomodate the wider width? No?

Btw I still have your Avatar as my work desktop back ground too, I caught one of the IT guys at work perving at it while he was loading new software on my PC and he loves it :)

PS. it's a simple thing: i have a private secretary since i have money. I lend my pocked-money as a child to others in my school. So she's got money from me back. More than i have got from her every week. B)

Also as i grown up, and got my first money from work it was on her to look after it.

I'm a simple man -i make the money with craftsmanship!, but i don't manage the funds and in/out transfer. The fight with paper, bills and numbers is not my case. If i ever find a girl that love me , and i can merry her- she got the 'keys to my safe' :thumbup:

The plugs were removed and the engine was turned over. Unfortunately, it was discovered that the oil pump doesn

Is the problem that you can't import a modified car? If you were to buy a standard car (perhaps in LHD) and import it can you then modify it? :lol:

"Bingo". The problem is that Germany and France are very strict on the use of non-standard parts.

I think that if I were to import a V8 to France, then mods would be limited to brakes, software and engine/transmission internals..... well almost certainly different injectors :ph34r: ....... and turbos...... :) .....

Mike, Just imagine owning an Esprit and not being able to do any mods. Would be torture. I'll inform Amnesty International.

Hi Mike,

From my experience a rebuilt Esprit V8 engine, which is not primed (= just filled with oi and all the oil lines an coolers dry) will take ages to get oil pressure just by operating the starter.

Please, before you remove the entire engine, just to discover that NOTHING is wrong with it, you should tow the car in 2nd gear till the oil light goes out. When you do this you will see that it takes quite some time for the oil pump to fill all the lines and coolers ...

Its hardly a job that your starter motor can do by its own ... ;o)

Another painful update on the SWLC engine rebuild :baby:

After finally establishing oil pressure on the engine, a leak was discovered on one of the oil cooler return hoses that run through the backbone. It was agreed to replace the hose pair with some more robust hydraulic hose, with suitable terminations. Guess what had to come out to get the new hoses through the chassis?..... yep, the engine is out again. :o

Then, when finally the car was ready for its first road test, yet another oil leak was discovered - this time it was the crank oil seal in the front cover !

The engine in now back with SWLC to replace the knackered oil seal.

I really hope that it will be a case of getting the fully serviceable engine back, install and run..... further update when I have news. :lol:

normally it is not necessary to pull the engine out ?! I managed to replace one of the *oily snakes* with some parts from an truck hydraulic shop. The main tool was an knife and an wire cutter (because of those stupid plastic strips inside the backbone structure..)

Latest update from SWLC.

The oil leak was put down to a batch of faulty/sub-standard oil seals. The seal(s) were replaced without having to remove the car and the engine is confirmed
