Thats correct, it would be difficult to get the springs right first time. Also, on the pre-85 the lower link twists as it goes up and down as its located front-rear by the ARB. So the lower shock

So it's looking like nothing will ever come of this? What a tragedy! I have a 1978 Esprit S2 that needs a suspension overhaul and I would have snapped up a Bilstein/Eibach setup in a second.

Dear All,

Is it not possible to join up with a damper company to let them tailor a new set

for the First series Esprit, or do we need Lotus to develop the handling?

As I did some research on aftermarket suspension for my S2.2 Esprit. I always

got the same answer, you can have the currently available suspension with Adjustable

dampers at the rear and fixed hight at the front. Or get tailor made suspension at around 2500 pounds.

As the tailor made suspension is quite expensive, maybe we can organise a higher quantity batch

which can be more cost efficient, by for example a company like intrax.

So basically my questions are,

is there anything decent available on the market?

Is the current aftermarket suspension good enough?

Should we await the Lotus upgrade?

Can a company like Intrax match the ability's of Lotus in developing a new suspension configuration for us?

This has been going on for almost 2 years now and we're only a little over halfway despite much campaigning. Realistically, I can't see this happening as Lotus ASO can't justify running the project at a loss. I will continue to pursue it none the less but please don't hold your breath.

44 people plus some kits for parts suppliers is at least 50. Uhhhhh, come on, I don't think they want to do it at all. I'm not sure in all the group buys I've read (and been part of) that I've heard of even one requiring more than 25 committed buyers. I'd place a wager that if we had 75 that this deal would still fall through.

This is a bit different to the usual group buy though, it will require tooling and development; So the pre production cost needs to be spread over many units, or each set will cost thousands.

I wonder how many early Esprits are out there and not owned by LEF members. What about club lotus, a news letter or something direct to attract attention for Esprit owners in other clubs?

I only found out about this from Tony's forum signature. The guy I bought the car from didn't know about this forum.

but

It looks as if this will not hit 75 sets straight away; so there may be some options to look at.

If Lotus are amortising development costs, then that could be done on lower numbers. For example is the cost is
