Split leather seams on rear seats

Thought I'd post experience and a couple of pictures of my recent project to repair a common problem on Full leather interiors in the Excel.

First attempt was to try feeding the leather and see if any compliance could return - A couple of weeks later I gave up on this plan, deciding only long term fix was to set a couple of panels in.

I assume this is the top of the seat back by the 'parcel shelf'. I use a blanket in both Excel and XJ6 to help prevent this - UV and sun is the killer. 

I have long wanted to have a bespoke cover made as a blanket looks a tad Werther's Originals, basically a sunshield as I have for the front windscreen (when parked!) but to drape over the exposed shelf and seat. 

Great job yours! I suspect getting the seat back out was challenging.
