Jacking points

Recommended Posts

Finally I have time to renew the suspension and brakes on my SE.

What are the thoughts on using the 2 aft jacking points as a support using axle stands with rubber pads when taking the rear suspension apart?

Most will caution not to use the points on the body for long term support, as there aren't that many bolt points from the fiberglass body to the heavy bits on the frame. That said, my G-car spent months supported from the four lift points without apparent ill affects, but that's a different body.

An axle stand under the rear frame loop should be out of the way for doing the rear suspension.

The wooden beam was placed under a chassis cross tube, the axle stands are straight under chassis strongpoints, ie there were all the tubues come together on the left and right side. The wooden beam is not touching any fiberglass
