Escape to the Country BBC1

Just happened to switch the telly on when this (repeat) was being shown on BBC1 this afternoon. It was a Norfolk based show and the presenter visited Classic Team Lotus and chatted to Clive Chapman, before popping across the road to see Russell Carr and the Evija. She promptly announced that she was going for a drive around the test track in Lotus’ “iconic Exige”…

…it was an Evora! 🤣

My other half was watching the show yesterday, I saw it was Norfolk and commented I wouldn't mind escaping to somewhere close to Hethel. Then we switched off and took the dog for a walk, so we missed the Lotus content... 😞

This beauty was in Escape to the Country back in 2009. At the time I was area organiser of one of the Lotus 7 Club groups and received a call from the company who make the programme. The premise was the subject couple wanted a house with room for a paddock (for her horse hobby) and a large garage/workshop for him to build a Caterham 7.

At the time, I’d sold my 7, having finally got fed up with them, and replaced it with this lovely Burnt Orange Elise SC which I managed to position in pride of place in front of camera!😁

It was an experience being involved in the filming, being on camera talking to the couple and seeing for myself just how much bullshit it involves. It’s a lot!😂

It was on again tonight, and this time I got the see the Lotus content. Always nice! Bit of a shame they messed up Exige and Evora, but I think she would have preferred a ride in the Evija anyway. 🙂
