Engine bay photos needed '90 SE Turbo

Hi All,

Just fitted two new petrol tanks to my '90 SE Turbo (what a job!!!) and unfortunately we didn't take pictures of the engine wiring and plumbing before we took it apart to do the job.

The car is running but is very lumpy and once the turbo kicks in loses all power.

I wonder if anyone who has the same car could possibly photograph the engine bay so I can make sure everything is connected correctly?

Any help really appreciated

Hi George,

Sounds like maybe one of the vacuum pipes may have come adrift, there is a small black pipe that goes into the back of the relay box for the injection system which is hidden by the panel at the back of the boot just in front of the header tanks it might be worth looking to see if this is still attached to the sensor inside the relay box as it would be easily disturbed if the boot floor has been out. For what its worth a picture of my engine bay is shown below, but unfortunately doesn't show much detail

I'm assuming you don't have a Check Engine light on? (Otherwise Freescan might point to the problem).

Did you reconnect the black vacuum tube to the Exhaust Back Pressure valve?

Did you make sure the orange pipes from the turbo and inbetween the chargecooler and the inlet manifold are secure? I thought mine were, but were letting air out at higher boost.

Did you check the tanks for foreign objects (especially under the pump).

Did you reconnect all the pipes on the Charcoal Cannister? Are the check valves oriented properly on the vacuum plumbing for the charcoal cannister and the crankcase breather valve?

Hi All,

Thanks for the tips and I will check them out.

What I really need is photos of the pispes wires around the engine in as much detail as possible.

Utopia would be finding a similar car near me to go have a look at - anyone know of any in the North East of England? (Or poss the west coast of Scotland as Im going there this weekend)
