Would you give an Elan away?

Just saw this Elan on E-bay. It has been given away to a charity who is now selling it. I know it's in a bit of a state but yould you have given it away?

Perhaps Paul93lotus can take a look at it and let us know if it is as bad as it looks.

There's a sticker on the bumper too, 'USAF Registered Vehicle', I wonder if there's a story behind that or if it's just a car parking pass!

It's a S1 Elan (Very rare) and would sell for arround 8K here even in that condition ! I wonder what it will make in the USA

bought a 80 elite off ebay that was a contribution... if you are done with it, guess that could be a good tax writeoff....

seeing the USAF sticker, and state of the body, Foster Brooks must have been driving it.... why that tele pole just jumped out in front of me!

That is in really rough shape! It could be restored with time and money... but it is def. a project. With USAF plates I think it must have been one of the cars in Uday Husien's collection in Bagdad as it appears to have been in the general area of a blast of some sort?

They always credit the MX5 for being the best 2 seat open top but they're wrong - it was the car they copied !

I've restored 2 of these, from my experience the current bid price is too high, you'd be looking at spending a lot more than you would ever get back. I'd have to think about it even if it were free.
