The price depends on what they have to do, how thorough it is and the quality.

I assume from that price, they are doing all the work, stripping parts off etc, they are making sure all door shuts, light pod voids etc are painted and it's supposed to be a top notch job.

As Andy says... what are they going to do for that? Having the body shell + panels soda blasted to strip the old paint off would cost

Lotus Esprit [meaning] a 1:1 scale Airfix kit with a propensity to catch fire

thanks guys, well ive stripped every thing off and removed the interior and am attempting to lift the body free this weekend. so the spray shop wont have to remove anything. I have told the guy that i want a beautiful job as you do and he has worked on my friends Excel with great results. Sounds like a lot of work to paint a Lotus?

As per other replies, that sounds like a strip, prep and paint to a good standard type of price. So if thats what they're doing then that is a good price. Prepping takes time...time is money.

Look what Q's brought us. Isn't it nice!

Hi, the price for an a1 job, is around 4,000 and for that it will be first class.

For that the car is stripped and rebuilt after painting.

For anything less that around 4k you have to lower your expectations on finish

I beg to differ. I had my 911 painted by a Porsche garage down in Essex. Westcliff on sea. The car was absolutely stunning. I handed them a rolling shell with just engine in nothing else. They removed the doors, rear spoiler, bumbers, bonnet and painted it. You can never tell from a picture but this car was like glass!! I paid

911 is a steel car which is a lot easier than fibreglass. If there are any cracks or microblisters all the paint will have to come off right down to the bare glass, and thats the expensive bit, and also getting the panels off. Try removing the front bumper off a Stevens.

You have a good price in UK in my opinion.

I have a specialist in my town, he know the GRP car, he know the job involved in a top paint job.

If I will do all the repairs and preparation, including primer etc...it will cost to me around 5000 Euro so more or less 4300 GBP.

Quite expensive compared to the estimates reported here.

I think a top job is time comsuming and the time is money.

Just for comparison purposes I have just had a quote to do the Red one, that is presently in two tone red. I cannot make up my mind to stick with the Calypso red or the darker F word red.

To do a complete strip, fill if necessary and two pack with a top clearcoat I have been quoted the sum of R 18 000. That works out to about 1 300 pounds Sterling.
