S4s and V8 clutch slave different?

Just curious - anyone know if the clutch slave is different from the 4 cylinder to the V8 cars (and the master for that matter). I just installed one in my V8 and finally removed it when I had zero luck getting it to work. Once removed, I noticed the old slave was spring loaded when pushing the piston in, while the new one I installed could have the piston pushed in but it wouldn't return unless pressure was applied via the clutch.

So I'm wondering if I either have a bad slave or the wrong one .....

Thanks!!

Take a look at the ramspott & brandt website ( http://www.ramspott-brandt.de ), they sell one type of slave which is for the 4 cylinders and '96 and '97 V8. On my Turbo SE the old slave had the spring and the new one is also spring loaded.

Hope this helps
