Turbo to Cat stud snapped .... help :s

Evening,

Whilst replacing the CAT the very first stud I tackled snapped

All others we fine, Cat now removed....just one snapped stud to sort....Does anyone have any advice/experience of stud removal

Take the turbo off and take it to a machine shop if you can't drill/easy out it out. They'll arc erode the stud away, happened to my manifold and a tungsten drill bit snapped mid-drilling so the lot had to come off!

If its the lh one jack up the car remove the wheel and drill it out if its stainless it may be a pain. If you destroy the threads in the housing you can get a bolt in from the back

Anyone know what I should be asking for when I get replacements...can I get them anywhere.....or is a lotus only job...eg SJSportscars

They are a great tool but make sure you use some oil on the stud 1st as i got two out with it but the 3rd s.apped

Yep....tool is great...and yep the 'kin stud snapped again ... drill bits here I come ...good job there is loads of room..NOT

Pig of a job, but im through....for now I have an m8 bolt and nut rather than a stud and all is well....except my shreded aching arms..hey ho its a day off tomorrow and I get to drive

Cool i also took the studs out from the manifold to the turbo and replaced with bolts now much easierto remove and work on

Drill it our and helicoil it instead if you can. Not much room for a bolt....
