Lotus magazine suspended

Bibs we enjoyed the LCI magazine, if i remember correctly it was £30p/a for membership and there were a few competitions for Lotus buffs!!

Thinking back you used to be able to communicate with different factory personnel.

I'd vouch for a reincarnated LCI Magazine, although I guess LCI died a death when the new version was launched and Caroline Parker and the team moved onto pastures new. I agree it was more owner focused but with a sprinkling of motor sport and other Lotus related events I think it could work again.

As to the 'lifestyle' magazine, has an official notice of its demise gone out? I don't recall receiving anything.

I thought that the LCI magazine was good. Not perfect but I'd much rather read about Lotus cars, owners, interesting drives etc than some sort of lifestyle magazine.

The issue that the big flashy magazine had is that we Lotus owners all have different lifestyles. What it pedalled was something that I had no desire to aspire to, in fact it came across as trying too hard. I don't buy lifestyle magazines, though I guess even my weekend FT could be characterised as such.

There needs to be a Lotus spin on all the articles. If you're going to cover wine, for example, it should be centred on a road-trip around a great wine area in a Lotus. The cars don't have to be new but I want articles that make me want to grab the keys and go out for a drive. The old LCI magazine was much more like this.

I'd also appreciate some focus on future technology - the sort of stuff you get in the engineering magazine.

The price isn't really a problem if the quality is good.

There is a fox shagging a chicken in issue 5 - Now that is the sort of content that the LCI magazine didn't cover.

And god knows what the bear is doing??? I think he's lost his car keys or something

question to the subscribers - has anybody got a refund or any additional email concerning this matter out of Hethel? (as said I got my last email in July....and I do not want to hear any joke concerning "ball joints" or something similar.... )

Well, Lambo and Ferrari do have a substantial market suppliying cars to the the porn industry. Seems to be the first thing any pimp or porn star would buy.

Maybe this was DB's idea of how to get a piece of that share

Hi Martin,

As a subscriber to Lotus Magazine we're truly grateful for your support and enthusiasm, so it is with regret that I write to inform you that issue 5 will be our last.  We will of course be sending you a refund for undelivered copies, but we will also send you a model Esprit as a gift which we hope will get your imagination racing just as the magazine did.

We would also like to offer you a 20% discount on Lotus Originals apparel, accessories and luggage (excluding F1). Simply use the following code online or in store: M4SEJDY06QDNJMCAZ3K7ZXVH4G (valid on purchases until 12th August 2015).

Thank you again for your support.

So, a refund and model Esprit were promised and they have just arrived. I was thinking, I have enough model Esprits already but its actually a miniature New Esprit!. Very cool - I hope it doesn't become a collectors item commemorating what 'might have been'.....

And I guess as a sign of the times, the £40 refund cheque is signed by the COO himself!

It's a bit concerning that he both has the time to sign so many small cheques and that he has to do it!

That said, Lotus still owe me expenses from October 2011!

That's what I was hinting at Bibs. I've also just noticed that the cheque is dated 6th August! Was cash flow so bad in the summer that they held back sending them out until until now?

At the risk of being flamed, are you sure?

Mark,  ..I would say it is made in China, as most of this stuff is made there  ..but can you see any indication of the 'brand' it is related to ?  Mattel, or something like this  ?

..as there is not much on the (at least the later series) Esprit listed on the model-crafting/model toys pages in the web.

It is only those 1:18-Autoart models, with the wrong RHD-steering and '97 interiour.

Not much of the (or in other words nothing) of the S350/ V8 '03/'04 version was ever produced in big numbers in the market of model cars ..as far as I can see
