Fellow Lotus enthusiast catching up with technology!

Hi All,

At 55, I'm still finding my way around 'forums', 'posting' and other computer related miracles of the modern world!

I'm the proud owner of a factory original 1979 Esprit S2, purchased as a 50th birthday present to myself back in 2008 and a fully restored 1976 Elite 501, purchased on a whim in 2011. Both cars are used regularly, and the Esprit has taken some awards at local classic car shows. Hopefully the Elite will be joining the classic car show circuit soon - but I can only drive one at a time!.

It never ceases to amaze me the passion owners of Lotus vehicles have for their cars - something which is evidently present on this forum, and a characteristic I share with all like minded enthusiasts. The range of Lotus vehicles I have seen on the forum is fantastic - from the complete rebuild to the concourse - with each owner taking the Lotus 'blinkered view' - "Never mind the cost in money and time, it's got to be done!" - an attitude which, although perhaps not going down too well with the nearest and dearest, is certainly appreciated by the wider Lotus community.

I've uploaded some photographs of my 1979 Esprit S2 and the Elite 501 in the members gallery section, and a smaller selection of photographs of the Esprit in the garage section. I've also conducted quite a bit of research into the previous ownership of the Esprit right from its manufacture in 1979 that some of you may find interesting to read, and posted that in the garage section too.

I do hope that those of you that can spare the time will pop along to the garage and owners gallery sections to look at my contributions and deem my two vehicles worthy of joining such a catalogue of illustrious and well loved vehicles already displayed on the site.

Nice to see your Elite is getting out - must pop over and have a look soon, tomorrow eve maybe? Must get some paint on my Eclat soon to give you some competition at the shows!

Like the wedding pic BTW, though someone warned me about how much paint those ribbons can take off when they are flapping in the breeze! Bets taken on/off on arrival

So you're still finding your way around, yet you've posted here, put pics up in the gallery (I haven't even done that) and by the looks of the posts above, already know people on here.
