So whats on for 6th October I hear you all ask! 👂🏻He says defend by the silence! There have been some requests for a bit of a drive as well after the meet so this one is including that and hopefully not so far that the Edinburgh contingent get a nose bleed or whatever. Meeting at Blair Drummond Smiddy Farm shop. 10:00 https://www.blairdrummondsmiddy.co.uk/pages/the-smiddy WTW: ///fork.acrobatic.rentals or the old fashioned way is come off the M9 at J10 and head west past Blair Drummond Safari park about a mile further on it is on the left. There is a sit down cafe and if something less required a good external burger/coffee van and some external seating. Good, if not expensive local farm produce shop as well. Last time I was there there were about 20 Porkers in the car park so fine for our cars. The drive afterwards is just under 40 miles of great A&B roads if you don’t know the area. It takes in the famous Dukes Pass road up the hill from Aberfoyle. The end of the drive is pretty much back to start point. If anybody fancies a trip on a steamer on Loch Katrine, then it is still open then, and if a nice day a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. We will pass about 2 miles from it. There is also a nice tarred loch side walk there as well. I’m hoping this screenshot gives an idea. Please do post up if intending to come either here or on WhatsApp group.

A tad annoying windscreen 'chip'
Al replied to Al's topic in Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC/Other
The actual job was done at specialist along the road but Craig had to co-ordinate order & receipt of screen in advance. Get crate and car, along with a mechanic for most of a day to said specialist, to assist with removal of bits and get the front bonnet/clam open along with other bits and bobs and then specialist charged more as job took longer than planned, but that came out of Craigs built in allowance. All in all I was happy and so were the insurers so that is all that matters. -
About time I think we started a separate thread for this issue which seems to be growing. There are 3 or 4 posts here in page 1 of Emira niggles but maybe a moderator can copy them to here to keep all together. The other Emira Forum that is linked in those posts has a thread on this issue and even a poll of the car age to see if a common theme. Seems as the cars age some of them are showing signs of paint bubbling on mainly the door tops. 🤬 It appears whether car stored indoors or out and I'm getting the vibe they appear as they start getting to around a year old. I am fairly sure my car has just started or I'd have noticed this previously and /or the detailer would have, and I have a line of about 5 or 6 bubbles along the top of the nearside door (right hand drive car). My car is wrapped but not this far back and only G-Techniqued in this position. I looked at friends cars last night at a Club Lotus meeting and lo and behold one early car was clear and the other had the same or even worse than me and he hadn't previously seen them. Both doors. My car is a 7/23 1st reg but who knows when built, and friends car is a later one. (he may post up here sometime). Seems the problem is the door manufacture process and the solution is new doors under warranty. At least that way should be a better chance of a good match ex. factory. I would post photos if I had any worthwhile but hard to get with reflections. So my problem is now with the dealer so let's see what happens. In the meantime I'd advise all owners to give your cars a thorough check!

A tad annoying windscreen 'chip'

So I eventually got my windscreen replaced on 29th August! It took some time to get a quote and then quickly authorised. To speed up the process I agreed to put on my credit card and then get reimbursed, but to be fair the Glass Assist company have been great to work with and they reimbursed me very quickly. The cost as I have the breakdown........... £3,218.38. ( I was only the £75 excess out of pocket thankfully) Windscreen £1,982.38, Carriage £360, Craig's time for his guys to assist/move car etc. etc. £600 and windscreen specialist removal and refitting £276. It is sometimes nice to get an old screen replaced but it pains me for a chip less next to new one! 🥲 -
Hi David do you know how many cars/vans/trucks/bikes/sheds turned out? Much bigger than I expected. A REAL eclectic mix and some very rare even if not particularly valuable pride and joys out. We certainly out numbered the no show fat germans and prancing ponies As Andy says you did amazingly well considering what the rest of the week involved. She would have been proud of you. I meant to post these up at the weekend but then forgot as usual.

Fire away Bibs, no problem. I have shown the photos to lots of various Lotus owners at meets etc and nobody can believe the price. Everybody has it at least £800 up to almost anything. As I’m not a great follower of socials (or even on many) could you fire me a PM with a link to anywhere you post it so I can see and show him. One great follow up story though! Son is golfing with work colleagues and cars are being discussed. One new engineer says “oh I saw a stunning car in the flesh the other day - a blue Lotus. Do you know the model I mean? I think an Emira”. Son replies “yep I know it, my Dad and my son have one” 😂 Brilliant one liner! Double take by rest of foursome

Breakfast Club Meeting for the 1st September
Al replied to Al's topic in UK - LEGS (Lotus Enthusiast Group Scotland)
Gregor in his Exige and myself are in already, so we are up to 3 so should beat the prancing ponies and fat germans. -
I wonder - if real - what it does for the handling! I can’t see it being real myself as not a lot to attach it to under the rear boot/valance area unless it goes a long way forward then the lever forces would be horrendous.

For those of you champing at the bit wondering what we are doing on the 1st Sept. here is the best solution at short notice. I am only just about to start driving again after. spinal Op. a few weeks ago and I had dropped the ball on this but luckily Bill Telford moved the 15th Sept. Sunday Worship date to the 1st Sept. (For those who don't like this option it will be last one this year) SUNDAY WORSHIP – 1ST SEPTEMBER Our penultimate “Sunday Worship” breakfast meeting of 2024 takes place at Oscar’s Café on 1st September. Full details of the event can be found on our website:- https://www.classic-car-tours.com/sunday-worship To enter your car, contact us at info@classic-car-tours.com Regards & Best Wishes Bill Telford Tour Director Classic Car Tours 00 44 (0)141 956 5626 Mobile 00 44 (0)7876 211785 www.classic-car-tours.com www.facebook.com/ClassicCarTours

Slow to the party 😆. Posted last week on previous page

Thanks Bibs. They are saying 8-10 weeks recovery and no driving for 4-6. This retirement malarkey isn’t working out as planned! 🤪

Well he really gets it doesn’t he! I don’t think I disagreed with anything he said and remember the V6 has a way around the gearchange issue in the overlooked IPS! A simple auto when you want in traffic, a well sorted gear change map going up and down when in sport mode (not tried track yet when on it apart from straight line). Paddles if you want control or to override the auto for overtaking and let’s not forget it also has Launch Control that manual doesn’t but strangely not promoted much. I love mine after 7K miles inc Europe autobahn and twisty mountain passes. After 14 years of Evora’s I did wonder but glad I jumped. Yes of course I’m older and driving pleasures do change I appreciate. 👨🏼🦳🚙. I’m also lucky enough to have an S2 Elise when I want the analogue experience but can hardly get in and out of it at present with various medical issues. In fact I’m typing this unable to sleep in hospital bed after major back surgery, hence the time!

Actually that is another thing I’m impressed with so far. Battery life. My son was saying has now played with it each evening for a while since Saturday hand over of the keys and not yet been charged.
