Mad Mini Idea - Kimbers will be impressed...

I'm a big Mini fan and I was looking for more poke for mine. I reackon this has got to be good fun :D

So how about:

175 bhp or 195 bhp Honda VTEC

0 - 60 in 5.0 seconds

Top speed 135 mph

Road holding: 300ft Skid-pad =0.96g

30-40 Miles Per Gallon (although probably not at top speeds!)

Here's an extract from Car & Driver

If you're a guy (or gal) who thinks Vin Diesel is a girly man, this R-car is the Mini for you.

Once upon a time when the mountains were young, import-car buyers were avant-garde. These half-mad radicals thought nothing of trading in a perfectly good De Soto Firesweep for

Ohh, I'm sure we could come to an arrangement!

The alternative is to wait for the new Type R or lets all talk Lotus into putting their lump into a little hatchback.....it's been a while since the Lotus/Proton Satria disappeared......hmmm Lotus Civic V8....sounds nice! :D

20K ??!!? :o

Only cost 10K to get one fiddled into an Elise including engine and fitting and VAT.

Oh forgot, have to add on the 5-6 grand just becuase it's an Esprit and the owner must be rolling in money :D

Thanks Tony :o

Jonathan - not too much fiddling...

Tricky bits are the engine management system, and cutting off the front end and puting on a flip-front.

You buy one of these...

and uprate the suspension with some of these...

And that about it really... Pack some toilet roll and off you go :o

Splashout - mate of mine stuck a bike engine in an 850 before... What a blast. the noise was incredible and went like shit off a shovel... Didn't engineer a reverse gear though - bit of a bitch to park :D

Jon

I dont think it is too bad actually if they can they will use the original gearbox (they do for a citeron DS box) they keep reverse and top gear and then add their own gears. Hence keeping all the gear change mechanism.

This rough price was to creat a 400bhp turbo busa example the engine alone is prob 2-3k of it!

I had a quick look at this when i did my rebuild, sad thing is it sounded expensive at the time but i have spent more than that now anyway!
