Sorry for the late reply folks - I forgot I posted this question. If these assemblies are glued together, I don't want to risk cracking them. Was playing with idea of LED panels behind the lenses, sort of a retro-future mod, but will go for the LED replacement bulb option instead. I do have another idea of converting the tail lights to a brake/DLR set up, just need to source twin filament bulb holders that will work.

Hi folks - been a while 🤘 I'm playing around with a few ideas to get better illumination out of the taillights and wondering if anyone out there has successfully removed the lenses from the taillight body? I don't see any fasteners or any obvious way they are held together. So before I have at it with a screwdriver or something to pry them apart, anyone successfully managed to separate them? The units I have are original to the car and in perfect condition, and would like to keep them that way 🙄 TIA

How about black anodizing it as an option?

I achieved excellent results using black Hammerite spray paint when I refinished all the panels and engine lid on my 84 turbo. Different model I know, but the texture and finish is a great match to the original. Can throw up a pic or two if amyone's nterested.

Another vote for Plasti-Dip here. Cheap and cheerful way to see if you like the look of it and easy to revert back if you don't. Did the bumpers on my TE years ago, and still holding up perfectly well.

Nice! I have been similarly guilty in the past leaving mine to sit while life got in the way. Got as far as getting it up and running again, but currently resting for winter. Looking forward to moving when finished building and will finally have a decent space to tackle all those other jobs I've been meaning to do over the past 20+ years of ownership.
