Stevens esprit 2.2 vacuum pipe? Plugs parts and manuals

Recommended Posts

Hi

Kind of brought an esprit on a whim

Have a few bits to do - generally good but could do with a few questions answering

1 does anyone have a pic of the 2.2 NA vacuum pipes? There are not many but an 8mm fitting in the air box going no where?

2 where is best for odd parts?

3 BPR6ES or BPR7ES plugs? I have seen differing information for the NA

4 is there any service manual? I don't need much information generally

5 should the fuel pump run on for 30 mins after turning the ignition off?

Thanks

I have already repaired the headlight motor / window motor / misfire / carb balance / roof lining / leak at front sunroof joint, that the first 2 weeks

Welcome to TLF Shane. :welcome:

Pretty brave purchase on a whim.

Q5 answer: No

Others will be along that will answer your questions eventually.

Duck over to the Introductions thread and say hi in there as well.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

Regarding the plugs, it depends. Below is the appropriate page from the sevice manual for the N/A "G" cars and I believe the info is applicable to the N/A engine in your car as well.

Welcome!

Is the 8mm fitting on the bottom of the air box toward the front. If so its probably for the purge pump hose. The PP is mounted on top of the r/h tank and its probably that you can hear running for 30 mins after its turned off. It sucks the fuel rich air from the air box until the water temp has cooled. This avoids the embarrassing 20 second cranking before starting after stopping for petrol.

The fuel pump is bolted to the bulkhead behind the l/h seat  ( engine bay side).  It ticks rather than sounds like a small electric  motor running ( which is the PP).

Service manual from ebay or new from Lotus £100 but worth it.

Bits from Sjs, Lotus bits, PNM and others.

Look on lotusexcel.net for the vacuum pipe routing as they have the same engine in the SE cars and there is a diagram somewhere on it.
