engine cover

Can you run the car without the engine cover? still looking for my water leak as per my other thread and while I am messing about trying to find it I left the engine cover off and I kinda liked being able to see the engine through the vents

You'll be fine unless it rains, the cover diverts water that makes it through the vents. You may also get a little RF interference but I'm sure you can live with that for a while as the cover is coated underneath in a foil which is there to stop that.

So what your saying is if it rains drive as fast as possible to avoid rain entering the vents and all will be ok

Doesn't the cover also stop heat from the engine getting into the boot? (and perhaps dust/water spray sucked up from the road)

Not really. If you look at the underside of the cover, it'll be very clean and heat goes straight out of the vents.
