Hello,

After few years with an opel speedster 2.2 (or Vauxhall VX220 for Uk friends), and some more with an Elise MK1 with some trackmods (cams, exhaust, suspensions...)

I'm since few days the owner of my teenage dream : an Esprit !

And going for an esprit let's take the best with the V8 :

It's an 1996 midnight blue, with the first spoiler, futura wheels, creamy interior, and less than 49000km on the clock.

I'm very happy with the car, really different than anything else even used to elise and speedster, but not so difficult after 24H.

The car is running quite well, but probably missing some bhp as the car was drove very little and only in city for last 2-3 years. Already getting better after few days of driving, but still have exactly the same symptomas as in this thread :

http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/49048-loss-of-power-in-high-revs

So at the moment in the workshop for classic refresh maintenance (oil change, filters, fuel filters, plugs...), and should be better.

Next step will probably be to change the discusting GM steering wheel.

Yes it was in south of France most of his life, and the owner tried to sell it for lot.

Last owner from same family used it in Paris for couple of years, but not "properly" driven enough, and sold it to me for much more reasonnable price than the one shown in south few years ago.

So now service, and drive it more  !

PS : on peut en discuter plus par MP ;)

Awesome welcome to the forum. If you need anything please ask a Moderator.

The Esprit is very different to the smaller Lotus models (I went the other way with Esprit first and Exige after) but is equally enjoyable as a GT car rather than a track "Thrasher". After standing so long you may want to check the belts etc as well. The Esprit tends to be more reliable when it is driven regularly.

yes the issue seems quite obvious and classic : the left bank plugs are completely rusty, and leads really damaged.

So hopefully changing all that should solve the issue. Now waiting for parts delivery (including timing belt and tensioner), can't wait to drive finally with full power.

Yes Rodolphe !

Had a great deal an the car, it's in very good condition ext/int/under, brakes, suspension... but not running a lot for last years so need a big refresh to be perfect.

A small service + new catalytics in May by the previous owner at Lotus Paris dealer, and recent batteries too.

And now major service in a small garage : fluid changes, all filters inc fuel filter, plugs, leads, timing belts + tensioners + some gear lever linkage... to have peace of mind in 2014

Can't wait to have it ready !

Welcome to TLF (insert name here). :welcome:

Lovely looking esprit.

Any questions or issues with using the forums, feel free to ask one of us mods. We're here to help. :)

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

For forum issues, please contact one of the Moderators. (I'm not one of the elves anymore, but I'll leave the link here)
