Esprit Picture & Video Thread

Afternoon folks - bored at work so thought I'd post a few pix of my newly completed 1976 S1, courtesy of Stocks Coachworks, who have painstakingly got it back to how it was the day it left Hethel. The car's stored now for the winter, but I'm itching to get it out as soon as I possibly can, when the weather gets better  :)

They did an amazing job on that S1!  Congrats!  The only thing I could see that would bring it up .1 of a point is that it looks like the steering wheel leather needs to be redyed.  That's something that can be done at home with a kit.

Leather? Thats pure vinyl isnt it?

Looking fab!

I don't know.  It looks like leather.  Vinyl can be redyed as well with a different kit.

Extremely nice S1. Well done!

Imagine if this car stood for sale at many dealers. Would people buy it? Yes, I think so. (with modern safety etc, but basically the same).

Nothing beats old design at it's best. A Pagani of today, although looking very interesting, looks like a disaster next to your S1 Esprit.

Funny thing is, that vw brought up their version of the old tartan interrior of the old Gti again. So probably your tartan interrior is very modern Again ;) Certainly looks very very good as well as very inviting to take a drive.

Kind regards,

Jacques.

Don't be knocking Pagani. The Zonda R will ALWAYS be in style, it's so radical.

Some designs are genuinely timeless though - look at the McLaren F1....it REALLY hasn't aged a bit.

Thanks for the comments guys :) And you're right Buddsy, it's every inch a 100% vinyl steering wheel!

Nope, a Pagani is not timeless. It expresses a new dimension to exterrior and more over interrior, not really seen so detailed before. But timeless: no. In many years, it will not be seen as smart and timeless, but more like extravagant and exorbitant (in my view).

The curves, lines, folds, shapes and all the details, each speak their own language. And that is not always the same as harmony and being timeless and a rolemodel to others in the way that the totality of complexity is a pure simple sporty elegance while still being brutal. I don't see the Pagani as being that. But sure it's special and I like them.

But the McLaren F1 I totally agree about; most admired outside for elegant shape and race inside. Works for me ;)

And a Esprit S1 as well executed as Jonathans, is really a third dimension compared to many of todays sportscars. Not speaking about speed capabilities. But it surely looks fast as well ;)

Each to his own of course.

Cheers,

Jacques.

Jon

To be honest drives better than the blue one.  Love them both though.  Unfortunately it has not been out much just recently.  Last time New Years day was the last time.  Very busy at work and unfortunately have 2 family members very ill in hospital taking precedence really so they have not really been out.

When things calm down a bit they will soon be unleashed on the roads again.  Understand there may be a FYEO shoot at Pinewood in the spring so hopefully we can get them together.
