I think it's the Evora's closest competitor, just wish it was 2+2.

This is a good thread. Great to hear your happy after 4 years ;-) I'm approaching a year and couldn't be happier :-D

That Jag is a dangerous thing to do! If my suspicions are right.... A natural successor I fear might be apart from the lack of kids seats.. They may weigh more and yup the engines in the wrong place but I bet she's a beaut. All that modern know how in the engine bay, gearbox and ergonomics departments might start to show our Evora's age.

Which one is it? V6 S Coupe is going to be the sweet spot ??!! That car will hurt any further Vantage sales badly.

It's the E-Type for our generation but I'm hoping you say it's great but still no Evora to drive. A Great GT but not a real sports car...

P.S I can really see that as my next car too, only problem is I too need & want a 2+2... Maser GT, 997 are M3 are the only alternatives... I then come back to "nahh I'll stick with the Evora" :-)

It was the standard coupe so similar (on paper) performance to my Evora. I did quite a few miles over the weekend in it through the Cotswolds and I really liked it.

My thoughts;

Styling wise, it manages to be pretty and handsome at the same time, it is gorgeous.

The exhaust note is laugh out loud brilliant. It pops, spits, gurgles and barks. But it never drones or is tiresome. I'd love it on the Evora.

The interior and toys were nice and it did make the Evora seem spartan and dare I say; dated.

The build quality and fit and finish were spot on. Really nice tactility in the materials with only a couple areas I thought were below par.

While sat on the drive, looking around it, sitting in it and blipping the throttle I could have swapped. However, I then drove it...

The ride quality was good, obviously not Evora standard but totally acceptable for a sports car running on 20" wheels. However, I felt the steering was a bit numb and lacked feedback, probably wasn't helped by the stupidly thick and bulky steering wheel. I don't know what small handed people would do.

Unlike the Evora it never felt fun or chuckable and with a big bonnet/engine out the front I never felt I could place it well in a corner. In time you'd probably get used to it.

I didn't realise how much I prioritise the dynamics of car above all other characteristics. However, I think I (we) am in the minority unfortunately for Lotus.

The F-type is the car I'd want my father to buy so I could borrow it now and then but I wouldn't trade the Evora for it.

Evora dynamics are totally unique. It's a big grown up comfy Elise without loosing that sharpness we all love about Lotus's.

We're lucky to own such fantastic cars.

I'm coming up to just a full month of owning my first ever Lotus car, indeed my first ever mid-engine anything. I've had a V6 before but nothing in the same league as my sexy gorgeous 2013 Evora S 2+2.

 

I genuinely can't imagine ever trading it for something else and wondered if that was just the initial first flurry of lurve; but it's good to hear that people are still feeling the passion after 4 years - coz that's when my finance agreement ends and I'm either going to have to give it back or stump up nearly £20k to keep it <gulp>

 

For me it wasn't about getting a sports car or supercar or whatever, it was specifically about owning a Lotus.. my company worked with them back in the late 1990s to help them define their original internet business strategy across Lotus Group, so I've had a personal connection to the company but only now been able to justify afford something like an Evora. I initially test drove the Elise but wasn't feeling the love (I'm not "into" cars, as it were, so found it all a bit too, errrr, "brutal"). I wanted to test drive the Exige after that but then noticed an Evora in the showroom. I'd never even heard of one before but the next day had a test drive in a matt black Evora S and was immediately sold. And so was it.

 

REALLY loving it. It's so comfortable on long journeys, so much fun on twisties (I compare it favourably to the feeling of "heheheh wow this is awesomatious!" as I get when going out for a random country lane blat on my Yamaha R1 bike) and the more I drive it the more I learn how it handles and what it can do. Hopefully getting some one-on-one time in it soon with a former traffic Police bod who actually knows how to drive properly.

 

I can't even imagine switching to a different Evora S. This is the only matt black painted (not wrapped) one in the world and while so many seem to prefer seeing their face in their paintwork, I'm really keen on the matt look - again, I'd never even heard of it prior to seeing this one. I must live in my own little world.

Just cool. I've been a bit of a car whore over the years until I found my Evora... Funnily enough went in for an Exige and fell for the Evora straight away!

Can't see me ever selling it, it's the start of a collection :-)

I'm just putting a few more on mine as I'm at Spa watching the WEC Le Mans Series. It is very comfortable for doing long distances.

I thought I'd update this. Racked up another 3k miles doing a few more road trips; Spa, Nurburgring, Ypres, tour of Wales, Lotus Festivals/meets etc. Although the season is nearly over and nothing organised til next year .

No issues to report, so all great. Had it's 4th service which included a gearbox oil change that I feel has improved the cold gear selection.

Now 5 years into ownership and still loving it. 22k miles so far. Nothing more than service/MOT costs so far and ready for another season of road trips and events.

I had a little flirt with a GTE but can't really justify the additional outlay...

However, really loved the experience and if I were to choose again would definitely go with IPS.

I have another big trip around Europe with mates next month (9 countries, 2k miles over 5 days) so bought an SJ4000 camera to capture the drive. I've been playing with the settings and where to locate it on the car, any more suggestions would be appreciated...

Also managed to spend a lot of time over Christmas clearing out my garage and rediscovery my pool table so now have a proper man cave to house the Evora in...

I am coming up to 1 month ownership and just love my little red Evora. It feels like a really special place to be when you're sat behind the drivers wheel and I don't think I will ever get tired of the view from the side mirror over the those swooping hips and air vent!

 

I feel very privileged to own such a beautiful car and others seem to appreciate it to with plenty of thumbs up, smiles and waves, including a flash of the headlights and wave from a passing bright yellow McLaren MP4 coming the other way up near Ballater.

 

Only one instance where I've  been given the finger / shaking coffee beans treatment but then that was a van driver who was being a tw@t anyway!

 

Not sure I would feel so good behind the wheel of a Rosso Ferrari, as would suspect many people would think I was good at winking or something. Which in itself is a shame as, just like many Ferrari drivers, I've worked hard all my life to get what I have. But hey ho, people who don't feel compelled to work hard seem quite compelled to loathe those that enjoy what hard work can bring. That will never change.

 

Already thinking of my next purchase, but I'm pleased to say it WILL be another Evora. I just love the car and like the brand - a real enthusiasts brand as opposed to a poseurs one.

It's great to see how much people are enjoying their Evoras.

 

I'm three months in to the ownership experience, but regrettably have been without my car for nearly a month now while some issues are being resolved.  

 

Even though it's only been a few months I feel genuinely lost without the Evora.  Hopefully the car should be back with me this week end, just in time for the Supercar Siege at Leeds Castle.  

 

I intend to spend all day Saturday cleaning the car. although it looks like I am going to have to spend some considerable effort to getting it even close to your standard Jaws!

 

Just like auRouge, there was a large part of me that was seriously tempted by the Exige, but the Evora just completely took my head and heart.

A quirk that has cropped up recently is my instrument panel temperature gauge seems to fluctuate up and down in the bottom half. Don't know if others have experienced that?

I've used the OBD reader with the Torque App to read the temp and its reading is stable so thankfully the ECU should be reading it correctly. However, it is a bit unsettling especially as I'm in the Alps at the moment on a big road trip.

Did the Grimsel, Susten and Furka passes yesterday, now heading down the Nufenen pass on to Lake Como. Fantastic roads and scenery, I really need to move here.

You can keep your superchargers and even your CR gearboxes. An N/A with standard box and sports exhaust is perfect for the Alps.

We've been pushing the cars pretty hard to cover the all the roads/passes on my list and the Evora has been fabulous. A couple of mates with me have suffered a bit of brake fade but the Evora's brakes have just soaked it up with ease.

The Alpine 920r has also been fantastic too and its timing accuracy is spot on. Thankfully, as 6 cars are depending on me, as I take the lead!

First time my car has seen snow, didn't now it had a chime on the dash for cold weather

(If I would not not have an Evora already I think after reading the whole thread I would be v e r y tempted....a Long satisfying ownership is another think as buying the car, having it for just a short time an looking for the next one. I have my Evora for 3 years now, will keep it)

It seems the photos hide how dirty it actually is, it certainly deserves a good clean. However, it does have quite a few coats of wax and sealant which probably helps.

Bibs, it's been a phenomenal trip, the months of planning and preparation were certainly worth it. It also seems to have helped my recovery (even if a lot of friends and family thought I was mad going in my condition! - nothing was going to stop me from going).

It's great that we managed to do all 2k miles without incident with any of the cars. I must say the Evora might not have been the quickest in the group or the most comfortable/spacious but we agreed that it was the most complete package. A glass or removable roof would make it perfect. We all swapped passengers over the trip and they all loved being in the Evora and they all remarked on how much attention it got. I even got asked a few times by strangers to take their photo with it

Now preparing to plan another trip, but it'll be hard to top this one. Even the weather seemed to be on our side.

Willi - I don't think I'll ever get rid of the Evora either, there's nothing else out there that could replace it.

So after this trip I decided that I'd do an oil and air filter change myself. I know the Evora better than anyone but had never done the servicing on it myself so thought what the hell; it can't be that hard? Famous last words

It wasn't easy but it was certainly enjoyable having a tinker, especially as my dad helped out. We just took our time and double checked everything. I'd recommend others giving it a go.

Put it on the ramps and undid 17 bolts holding the undertray on, the rest was pretty straight forward...

Decided that I'd treat it to a K&N Air Filter, lots of fiddling required to get to the air box though!!..

It's now ready for a big tour of Wales that I've got planned in a month.

Coming up to 26k miles now and another season of road trips under the belt. Wales was fantastic with cracking roads and weather, although i did get a letter from the Welsh Constabulary when i got home thanking me for my visit .

A 4th set of rear tyres is on the cards and I think the fronts will be changed at the same time even though they still have quite a lot of tread. It's just they are the originals so are getting old. Haven't decided what to go with yet but fancy Goodyears or Michelin this time plus will get the wheels refurbed. The mileage I've managed so far is 8k with Pirelli, 9k with Yokohama's and ~10k with Avon's.

I've been really impressed with the K&N Air Filter, I feel it's improved the throttle response and also you get a little chirp/sucking sound with the window open.  I'm also investigating doing the Evora 400 airbox mod.
