I'd suggest checking with the Lotus Sunbeam owners guy (mark) as they are having them refurbished, that way you end up with a product that should be safe to use (not drop off/ have adhesive go into it / let particles past it).

I was hoping to get advice on just separating the strainer from the pipe?

Like heat or tapping and twisting?

I want to do this with out removing the pickup if possible.

Strainer has fallen apart

The strainer is brazed onto the pipe.   You'd have to use a torch to melt the brazing....  The olive is plastic, it would likely melt if you didn't remove the pickup pipe from the car.

See the line of brass looking material between the pipe and the strainer?  That is brass

Thanks

Think I can manage that, using a heat sink to stop the heat traveling up the pipe.

Just wish I had pulled my finger out and started this 2 days ago, instead of waiting for the rest of my gearbox parts to arrive from SJ
