TLF Car covers - Exige V6

Afternoon All,

I'm considering whether to invest in an indoor car cover for my new V6 Cup to protect the car whilst it sits in the garage during the winter.  The thing is I'm not sure if they really help protect the car, or worse still may trap moisture underneath and cause more harm than good.  My garage has a quality sectional garage door with a good seal so should be reasonably free from damp, but I do live on the Isle of Man and our winter climate can often by pretty awful during the winter.  I'm also wondering if the cover might cause paint marring by rubbing against the clam.

When I collected my car from JCT600 they'd placed the car under a lovely logo'd car cover which they used during the big reveal which was a nice touch.  Their cover fitted beautifully allowing the lines of the car to show through and still look fantastic.

Could anyone offer some advice or experience on this.  Are the covers worth the money? Will they do more harm than good?

Thanks

I can't say for certain without seeing your garage but I'd go with a cover. I bought my car one from here, it fits well and keeps the dust, cat paw prints and the rest off the car. I only put it on once the car is immaculately clean and dry. My current garage isn't the best (building a new one next year) so it's a must for me.

If you want the ultimate then consider a Carcoon bubble cover. I bought one for my Esprit and it is brilliant. Not too bad at around £500 for the Veloce model which has a frame inside. It's easy to put up and the frame allows much quicker and easier access to the car. It's a great design and keeps a flow of filtered air moving over the car plus built-in battery conditioner. The regular Carcoon (I get the whole cocoon reference but really, terrible name!) is more for long-term storage. It would be a pain to use regularly.

The one you saw on your reveal day was most likely a "specialised car cover" which is the same company as the one pictures above, the link is to Bibs shop, it's doubtful you'll find them cheaper elsewhere.

They are lovely, and are machine washable.

Ive got one for my Esprit too. They are breathable but it is good practice to make sure the car is properly clean before putting the over on.

FAO of LF1 owners, we've just placed an order for a couple of indoor covers which are black with red piping and a gold outline logo which is going to look fantastic. If you want one, place an order in our shop and we'll get them made up for you :)

I wish you hadn't posted this up Bibs they sound great, are you getting a batch of these made up?

It would be good to see a picture of one on a car first for me to drool over. They do sound very tempting though, :B)

They're always made to order since each car can be slightly different, they take about 4 weeks to be manufactured. I've ordered 2 last week just like this and I'm sure the lovely owners will post up pics once they're delivered. I think they'll look great!

PS The manufacturer has increased the prices but since we supply a decent number of these we've been allowed to keep our price as it is. We're now the cheaper supplier of these about :)

I'll definitely post a couple of pics when my LF1 cover arrives, can't wait, as I deliberated long and hard about the best way forward to protect my LF1 when not in use, I went with a Carcoon Veloce for my Elan but that is in a metal garage which gets very damp so the Carccon is perfect, for the LF1 that is in a brick garage heated by the house so a well made cover will be perfect as to be honest as good as the Carcoon is it is a bit of a faff getting the car in and out, especially on a windy day, but overall I am very happy with it.

I've still to invest in one, but still considering it.

At the moment I'd like to get the TLF cover, but have the words Exige S Cup and the cars build number on the cover to add a bit of personalisation.  I'm not sure if that would be possible. I guess I need to call the manufacturer.

Also, I actually drove my car on Sunday, as the sun came out and it was entirely dry.  I've not driven it since mid December.   I'd forgotten about how amazing it is and I'm still in the running in period so driving sedately.  I came home with a massive grin and peace of mind knowing even if its rarely used, when it is, its something truly special!

I can ask for you tomorrow if you like :)

If you like.

I did check their website and they seem to have some pretty custom examples shown.

I'm thinking the light green for the body, and black center stripe where the text will be printed.  Grey wing mirrors to match the cup and black piping.

Mark, for a green cover with black centre stripe and grey mirror pockets plus text as required, the cost will be £324 + shipping. It's basically an extra £50 for the stripe/mirror customisation and £25 for the text.

Let me know if you'd like one ordered and I'll sort it out for you :)

My cover definitely saved my paint work yesterday as I had the garage door open, I turned my back for one minute, turned round and my cat was walking all over my LF1 :( I wasn't impressed, I shouted at her and luckily she was on the windscreen when she got her claws out and launched herself off, no damage appears to have been done other than loads of dirty footprints over my nice new cover :)
