Hoses!

Hi Everyone

 

I am checking for leaks in the cooling system as I lose a small amount of water.

 

Most of the hoses seem ok to get at but tell me how on earth do you get a good look at the temp sender for the ECU under the inlet manifold and the hose from the water pump to inlet manifold water jacket???

It might not be a hose but the water pump. The pump housing has two holes that water weeps from when the seal in the pump fails.

 

For the temp sender look at the pic in this thread.

kneel in the boot and look from under neath.

 

Pressure check your radiator caps, the Engine coolant pressure cap is on the overflow bottle in the left rear of the boot near the tail light. If your pressure cap is venting at too low of a pressure then the coolant will go on the road behind your car, and you will never find a trace of coolant, since it only does it when very hot.

Good advise, need to check mine too, had to fill up about 1 liter of coolant. Tiny amounts of coolant goes missing over time. I suspected hoses. But  could be a combination of hoses and pump.

Travis, will the boot take the weight? Lol! I am a six foot and 17 stone (can just fit in an Esprit).

Did you mean take the boot floor out?

Im nudging 16 stone  and yes it will cope without any problem.  If you are unsure cut a plywood board to spread the load

I'm 6'2" and 12 stone 170lbs. I'm in the boot all the time. Just don't lean on the intake manifold!
