Gudgeon pins and bearings, replace or not?

Engine stripped and the pistons are all OK and no play in the gudgeon pins/small end bearings, the question is : should I replace them or not ? They say that the small-end bearing should be reamed to suit gudgeon pin, this sounds complicated and I don’t have the equipment to do this, is this true ?

hi steve, don't worry , be happy, if the pin is soaked in oil , and you could not feel play it is ok

new it must move under a low thumb pressure see part of my movie on youtube

when renew the bearing it must be honing or cutting to the right size,

not reaming , only with special equipment.

I replaced my bronze bushing, when I installed new pistons with their matching new gudgeon pins.

The bronze inserts come new with a slit, they are pressed into place and reamed to fit the gudgeon pin as you said.  I had a local engine machine shop do the bronze insert and ream them to fit.

Thanks guys, I think I’m just gonna be happy and re-install them, they don’t look worn and there is no play against the pin. A machine shop here will charge me $160 per hour so this sort of job will make me cry. Thanks again for your input.
