Evora Phone Bracket @ Elise-Shop

Recommended Posts

Just ordered a phone bracket, I've wanted somewhere to put a Brodit mount for a while.

Especially as the phone must be unlocked when connected to the Pioneer CarPlay unit, it's a pain keeping it in the glove box.

So I've ordered Yvo's mount:

Brodit iPhone 6 mount:

Job done.

Will post pics when I get it fitted (when car is back from Lotus Silverstone after having it's Engine wiring loom changed!)

So to slightly hop onto your thread Lee - I make use of a Scosche MagicMount. Absolutely fantastic thing.

They do a number of different types, ranging from a long arm window sucker version, to a m3 more permanent solution. Personally, the window sucker is enough for me, and holds true all the time. The phone is then held on by a magnet - and damn is it strong! I use my mount in the Evora, Westfield and in the Cessna (the latter two rattle/vibrate like you wouldn't believe!).

So you have to glue a large magnet to your phone/case? No thanks :)

Especially, as the brodit mount allows you to slide the phone straight into a dock, connecting the lightning connector without fiddling with a loose cable.

Which is great if you only ever want to put in an iphone as they refuse to the use the almost global mini usb connector standard - the one major gripe I have with Apple is their closed approach to life outside of Apple Corp. Inc. But enough of my rantings and prejudices, the other thing these brackets are good for is mounting and old smart phone fitted with Dash Commander or Torque, bluetoothed connected to your ODB reader so you can get custom readouts and displays of all the things the ECU monitors until you upgrade your headunit with screen to one that support carplay or mirrorlink   :)

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

That's the beauty of the Brodit mounts Andy... they make them for all sorts of phones and connectors.

It's a modular system... I have the Q3 car mount with an iPhone 6 mount. Should I be daft enough to swap to an Android phone, I keep the car mount and just change the phone mount.

What I thought was quite important was to design a bracket which is not going to leave permanent damage (no holes drilled, no glue applied etc).

Personally, I hate it when you see a nice second hand car with some holes smack in the line of sight. I prefer to keep it as clean as possible :)

Used mine for quite some time now and I'm very happy with it. Looking forward to your experiences!

I originally thought the same, and had been looking for a holder like you've gone for. However now I've been using it for a while I actually prefer it.

Allows the phone to rotate, which is good for stuff like Dash Command as it gives more information in Landscape mode.

Passenger can move the phone around to see/use it if they want, without having to take it off the Dash.

Added bonus is the Magnet lets the phone spin on a flat surface, so good for boring meetings. :-)
