Bell and Colvill are having an open day to celebrate 45 years in the motor industry

Saturday 1st August 10.00 – 15.00

Come along to our West Horsley site and enjoy;

·         A Tasty BBQ

·         Refreshments

·         Passenger rides (pre booking advised)

·         Guest Speaker Malcolm Ricketts with a Lotus 58

·         Competitions

·         Children’s Lotus Motion ride

·         And much more

Malcolm started racing in 1979 in a Lotus of course - a Mk 14 Lotus Elite.  Quickly moving on to a Lotus Elan 26R which he raced regularly for 20 years, both nationally and internationally.  One of the only Elans to appear in a Historic Race Meeting in Zolder 1982.  Malcolm then moved on to single-seaters with a Formula Junior Lotus 22, which again was raced on the Continent and in the U.k.  In 1997 Clive Chapman, when forming Classic Team Lotus, asked Malcolm to be a Patron of their Lotus 32b - the two and a half litre Tasman car in which Jim Clark had great success in the Tasman series in 1965. Malcolm raced this car, for Classic Team Lotus, until 2011.

During this time Malcolm raced a succession of other Lotus cars, including Lotus Eleven and Lotus Elan Shapecraft.  He then retired from active racing in 2013.  During this period with Classic Team Lotus, Clive Chapman suggested re-building this classic, one-off Lotus 58.  Malcolm supplied the engine and gearbox, being a 1600cc FVC, and Classic Team Lotus restored this dramatic looking car.  Clive Chapman still owns the car, but Malcolm is the custodian and frequently uses the car for demonstrations and low key events.

********** EVENT UPDATE **********

We are pleased to announce that Lotus Cars (with our old Lotus Sales Manager, Scott Walker) will be attending our open day with the New Evora 400. This is not for test drives, but you will be able to get up close and personal with it.

Also, Malcolm Ricketts will hold two talks, one at 11am and another at 1.30 pm, if you are trying to plan your day.

Please note, with so many interesting cars and people on site, we are making use of the Cranmore School car park in the adjoining lay-by. Signs will point you in the right direction.

Looks like a good day for a Bar-B-Q, came and join us
