2016 Historic Monaco GP

LF1

Recommended Posts

Anyone fancy a road trip taking in the 2016 Historic GP at Monaco? We were thinking a couple of days driving down, 3 nights in Monaco (Fri - Sat) then a couple of days back. The race tickets are now available for £65, 14/15 May 2016. There are a few hotel packages available too.

We'd probably cross to France on the Thursday 12th, blast down somewhere like Annecy and stay over. Route Napoleon down to Monaco on the Friday. Stay until Monday then look for an interesting drive home on Monday 16th with a crossing on the 17th.

We're easy though. Going to take the LF1.

For now we've just booked a hotel (with cancellation) while the prices are low. Was considering the Fairmont package, enquired last night.

You can book an hotel in cap Martin beaulieu or menton

Then 2 choice take your car and park in a Monaco 's parking or take the train to Monaco

If you choose the 2nd you have to be in place very early.

I live in saint tropez

And certainly wants to make the road at 6 from there to Monaco

Thanks for the advice.

For now we've booked the Hotel Port Palace as they looked to have decent prices - we've gone for a rate that can be cancelled if there are better deals going forward:

They also have parking.

that's a really good idea, it would be amazing to see and hear the historics around Monaco, they sound way better than the current cars!

I was planning to do the Montecarlo rally for the first time in the Evo but if that doesn't work out, could be very tempted by this.

Fairmont is a great choice and gives unrivalled views of the 'Loews' hairpin.

Yea, originally we were going for the Fairmont , stayed there last time and I have enquired about their deals including viewing from the pool area. Grabbed this hotel as their prices suggested they were not aware of the Historic GP dates :)

Plus the Fairmont are not particularly careful when parking cars for you in our experience.

Are you up for it then?

We are thinking about getting some tickets for one of the grandstands too, just so we have options. Just hoping it does not clash with my first Caterham Academy race - which is looking likely!

Just looked and the hotel want Euro 2500 for a room for 3 nights! So is that cheap or have they now put the rates up?

As I wrote take an hotel in cap Martin beaulieu or menton.

Take the train to Monaco ( you arrive in the center town of Monaco in 15 minutes )

No car parking extra charges.

The price of hotel in Monaco are very expensive ......

We may be up for this, been saying we fancy it for a few years now......

I insisted on parking my own car at the Fairmont didn't go down very well but I got my own way & then felt a little foolish when I saw the other cars that I was parking my Elise amongst!

OK - the Fairmont package is £2275 per person! 3 nights, full hospitality and viewing. Too much for us I am afraid.

If people are up for this maybe we should get an idea of numbers and budgets and see if we can come up with some options?
