Hardtop front pin sleeves

Recommended Posts

When I had the softtop grommets fitted, I took the hardtop back off once I got home, and managed to mess up at least one of the anti rattle sleeves that go over the front pins. These are part A117U0507F (aka page 120_04, part 16a in the parts diagrams)

Now, I fully intend to get a few more of these, but expect that to take a while. My thought was to use card or heatshrink temporarily for the trackday on Monday.

Any idea if anyone has these tiny bits in stock? I can imagine it taking quite a while to go via the dealer route.

I made a temporary solution and found my original parts which are in pretty bad shape. Here's how I did the temp fix, with heat shrink sleeve...

This will rattle

Heatshrink ready to go

Gun set to 130 degC

Much less rattly

... how's that for a dull photostory?

Why did you need your hardtop for the trackday?

edit: Like the idea of heatshrink, i'll check mine to see how loose they are.

I wouldn't want to do a trackday without it. For a few reasons:

  1. we'd need visors and wouldn't be able to hear each other or the instructor
  2. buffeting and ruined aero
  3. aircon would be useless
  4. wouldn't want to use the soft top over about 100 mph or so

Hopefully you'll have the OEM grey sleeves installed

Used to regularly do 135 on track in a vx220 with the soft top on and that was the same style but possibly slightly lower quality than the exiges, so wonder what speed the exige roof really gets iffy.

Certainly the recent soft tops have been variable in terms of fit and tightness. I can feel a draught coming past the front edge at 70 on mine so without some adjustment I wouldn't trust it at twice that
