We looked at this at a trade Photoshow, (We own a studio and a Photobook company).

The DSLR does not give the same resolution as a real Video Camera, it's nearly there, but the quality as it stands is not there yet, I'm sure it will be soon.

Regards cameras there is a big jump in Amateur Cameras and Pro, the bodies on the Pros are heavier and can take more abuse/use same with the Lenses, you are paying for the build quality.

Amateurs built the Ark

Professionals built the Titanic

Also there are some good video cameras that do excellent stills, depends on your priority really.

Thing is most people will push these out to TV or webcasting them so huge filesizes associated with large res movies are practically pointless not to mention they gobble memory cards like no tomorrow !
