Peoples’ reaction to your Evora

Insurance and money all organised, still got to upgrade my TLF account status to "Full" again? 

It's taken a lot of effort and patience to find this very special car!! 

Will hopefully be proudly posting my return to Lotus ownership tomorrow afternoon with photos after I've picked her up.

If only, a friend of mines brother just bought a 2001 Le Mans lmp1 racing car yesterday and is putting a 6.3 AMG engine in it... 550bhp in something that weighs 500kg!

My new addition has half the BHP and weights almost twice as much... (There's a clue!) 

Talk about stealing my thunder!! On the bright side mine will cost about a third and be as much fun! ?

Driving through traffic in Colchester today, lad hanging out the window of an Audi TT - in his late 20s I reckon, serious type with a beard and a tattoo. Shouts "400 horsepower?" and I said "yeah" - he gave a big thumbs up and a grin

Made sure to leave it in first a little longer than normal as I went past.

Then at the butchers, had a conversation with the guys about it, they all seemed really keen on it. One asked if it was an Elise - to be honest I wasn't even mad, as it meant he twigged it was a Lotus at least!

Very good but I miss led you a bit... Sadly less than half the bhp, I was being vague!

Not going to sleep much tonight... 08.53 to Waterloo then North till 13.18 when the owners wife picks me up in a white Freelander... he agreed that it would be best seeing and starting her from there own home from cold. If this was any other marque other than Lotus I would have insisted on a full dealer inspection, ECU dump etc etc, however Lotus owners are different. A decent chat on the phone and I just trust him, he's told me everything I need to know.. Ironic eh, Lots of trouble usually serious.. Nah! 

Deposit paid lets hope it's ok??

As I was no good at the last game, I thought I'd come up with a new one....

Driving through town tonight and I was spotted from a distance of by a group of teenagers. I could see them looking and calling comments as I burbled closer in sport mode.... as I drew level with them I dipped the clutch and gave a good old prod of the accelerator. Cue many expletives and startled chavs as aural hell breaks loose

I would never choose appropriate times to change down a gear with Auto in sports mode, for the auto blip , to gain a similar effect

Nor would I, and I certainly wouldn't do it at school leaving time pulling up to a pelican crossing with about 50 school kids crammed onto the central reservation.

I had lots of complements from the public.. on the few occasions I've taken it in to work, most of my colleagues have thought I had won lottery or had a major pay rise! (Although not cheap, certainly much cheaper than most would ever guess!)
Recently, I purchased a Blackvue Dashcam... the interesting part is using the 'parking mode'  ... I now find it a great source of entertainment to playback the footage of 'The Secret Life of an Evora'.. aka what happens when left somewhere in public...

I've had all sorts of inquisitive people stopping to look...they generally head for a closer look, especially to view the bottom right of the windscreen where you'll find the rego details... this give the make, model and year... clearly most people haven't got a clue what it is. The Evora is fairly exclusive in NZ with only around 13 (at the time of writing) in the country.
I certainly think more people are looking at my conservative Aquamarine Blue Evora than those that looked at the bright Orange Evora 400 in video review by @Bibs

Which leads me a my next 'must do'.. I'm going to have put the 'secret life of an Evora' video's on youtube just for a laugh and amusement :-)

haha I've come back to my car a few times to find people posing for pictures with it

Most recently I had a great reaction from a bunch of 10 junior high school students. They saw my car parked on the street (I was in a nearby park) and a few started yelling in amazement. The loudest chap yelled "OH MY GOD ... I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE OF THESE BEFORE ... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS"

They then proceeded to surround the car and try to peer inside... "OH MY GOOD LOOK AT THE SEATS!"

Brought mine home to my mum's for Christmas. Her house is at the top of the hill and on the far side of a T junction that anyone coming into the road must come up then either turn left or right. I've parked it on the road out front as her drive is mega steep and I've always worried since her Panda once slipped its handbrake when I was 18 and took a trip into the neighbour's garden.

Helping her cook earlier I was stood at the kitchen window that looks out over the front garden to where the car is. I was getting annoyed by every car coming up the road seemingly spending an age to make the turn and shining full beam headlights into the window. Then I twigged; they were all having a gawp at the car.

Slightly late posting this - but been tucked up with man-flu over the festive period.  Gotta love the annual "gift" from the office 

Travelling home from the office on the 23rd, picked up a 911 something or other with two kids in the back on the M25.  I think Dad had seen me coming and called it out as they both turned round and had a good gawp.  Massive thumbs up from both as I went past and a look and a nod from Dad.

Later on, same journey picked up a Coxster who backed off to let me pass, and then proceeded to sit on my arse for the next few miles , despite me pulling in and slowing down.  Eventually he pulled off, but not before carrying out what is known as a "fly by" and a friendly wave.

Finally got nearer home and having stopped at some traffic lights, had a small child in the back of a people carrier press his face against the car window and give me a big grin.  He must have said something as his MILF Mum turned and gave me a big smile.

Funnily enough I related the first two to the OH when I got home, but omitted mentioning the last...

Filming today on a quiet industrial estate in town, had the Evora and a Merc C63 lined up. Mother and young boy pull into car park, boy sees Lotus. We're filming, he walks over. "Lotuses are my favourite car" he says.

I offered him a sit in mine, as long as it was OK with his mum, he had a sit in, smile like a cheshire cat.

Said to me "Thankyou, you've turned the worst day ever into the best day ever! This morning I grazed my knee in football but now I've had a sit in a LOTUS"

This was five minutes after trying to explain the level of attention it gets to the Merc owner. Moments like this really make the car worth every penny.

On Saturday I'd just opened the door for the Sainsbury's delivery when a mum walks round the back of the van with her lad in tow, she points at the Evora and turns to him and says "There, that's your favourite car, isn't it?!" Hard not to smile at that!

Kid nearly ripped the arm off his dad when he spun around when he heard the Evora coming. Screamed at the top of his voice phwoooaaarrrr, Dad look at that... yes, I know, I'm a total prat but i just had to drop the clutch and give it a healthy blip on the throttle...!

The one downside of an Auto.

On the plus side, pop it in first when pulling up
