Timing belt question

Cushing

Recommended Posts

Changed the belt last year, driven about 800km with no problems, but today started checking over everything before we set off for Germany next week. The belt when I plucked it whilst using a sound frequency app, measured 170hHz Hot,  Measured it again cold and got 110Hz.  Is this possible ? is it too tight ? can I trust an app on my phone ?  I can twist the belt 45 degrees, but it does feel tight, on a regular car if you can twist the belt 90 degrees then it's good.

Hello mate!  It's just fine at 110 cold.

I used Tune!it Lite on my phone when I did it. I made sure I plucked the belt several times as sometimes the readings seemed to jump all over the place or did not show up on the screen at all.

I was hesitant as well, but having used the car now and listening to things when it is running, it all seems fine.

Thanks for the replies, yes, all seems to run OK so we'll see how it goes.  We'll be putting about 4000km on the clock. Looking forward to meeting up with the Danish members :-)
