  1. Mere coincidence I reckon evil_dr_watson <winky-smilie-thingy>
  2. One more... the facility to list/view a user's posts and/or topics they've started? Used to be top right of Viewing Profile page(?)
  3. Bibs Is it more helpful if we post a 'snagging list' as we identify potential issues, or would you rather we waited until you've finished upgrading? James
  4. Glad Mr Fish raised that one... thought it was just me Have tried what you suggested Bibs (also cleared out all temp. internet files) but 'fraid am still getting a row of red x's - on both work and home pcs. James
  5. Sorry to hear that Ashley. If the whole thing doesn't work anyway sounds like the motor's died. In which case this link may be of interest. TVR also raided the same Citroen parts bin for mirrors for the Griffith, and they're a good deal cheaper than buying directly from Lotus. James
  6. Sounds like Alan encountered exactly the same problem trying to source a 'universal' aftermarket interior mirror for the Esprit. Thanks for the 306 idea Alan; will source one of those and give it a try. Thanks also to Olaf, Jon and Paul for your input - much appreciated James
  7. Hope you managed to find enough space to bring one or two samples home with you? Not easy in an Esprit I know, but has to be done! Some cracking pics by the way James
  8. Really pleased to be able to help with the upkeep of our 'home' - a couple of bob on the way
  9. Ashley Had exactly the same problem. There are three possibilities, one of which you've already eliminated. 1. Loose hex screw in collar. 2. Loose "star" bolt in underside of mirror body. 3. Bracket inside mirror body broken. From your description I'm pretty sure it'll be No.2. Andy Whittaker has an excellent illustrated guide to removing the door mirror on his website. Once you've removed it from the door just invert the mirror and you should be able to see/access the star bolt. With a bit of luck it'll just be a matter of tightening it up, re-assembly and problem should be solved. We've had to go through the whole process twice now, as it vibrated itself loose again The 2nd time used Loctite which seems to have done the trick If you get stuck just give me a shout. James
  10. Strewth - had a 93 Subaru Legacy 4-Cam Turbo Estate from new, px'd with 196,000 miles on the clock in 1999.... and it's still alive today
  11. Dermot It won't download/open directly; but saving and then opening worked for me. James
  12. Hi Craig Welcome to the forum . I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Any pics of the Excel? James (an 'almost but not quite' Suffolk resident )
  13. A truly sad day... surely the situation doesn't warrant such extreme action .
  14. Reg C*** UU* on Thursday 20/7/06 at approx. 19:30. Anyone on here?
  15. Agree with what has already been said. But I'd like to amplify one of the points made by Bibs - if you do experience a problem please initially raise the issue with the organisation concerned before resorting to a 'public hanging'. Most genuine businesses cherish their hard fought reputations and will bend over backwards to try to rectify a mistake or problem... if they know what it is.
  16. Ok, sorry Now pleeeeeaaaase will you tell us what was in the package?
  17. Bugger, that completely sods up my plans Can't escape work until lunchtime, which is when the strike begins. Being out in the sticks in East Anglia means no realistic alternatives. So, I'm really sorry guys, but I'm going to have to drop out . Had been really looking forward to meeting you all... roll-on October! James
  18. Fishy, sorry but whoever told you that has got their facts wrong - it's actually the other way around. Up until early 2005 the only recourse open to disgruntled policyholders was to sue via the courts. From February 2005 all uk motor insurers became subject to regulation by the Financial Services Authority. This introduced a formalised complaints process that all regulated companies are obliged to follow. One element of this is the right for dissatisfied policyholders to take their case to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for independent review/adjudication - the result of which is *binding* on the insurer. So, Andy, don't give up the fight just yet. If I were you I'd now write (use Recorded Delivery) to the insurers explaining that you wish to lodge a formal complaint, and setting out full details of your case - do make sure that you include as much info as you can about your track day cover phone call (date, time and name of person you spoke to if possible). Whilst you're at it also tell them that if the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction 'you will leave me with no choice but to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service'. Insurers have to pay for the FOS investigation/adjudication (even if they are 'cleared' of any wrongdoing) - so the mere threat of FOS referral will sometimes results in the insurer reconsidering it's original decision. Hope that helps. James
  19. Long story short. Previous owner bodged repair to broken shaft on the OEM mirror. Repair has now failed. Obtained replacement OEM mirror, only to find the PO had actually glued the original mirror's 'foot' to the mounting plate/headlining As a temporary fix bought an aftermarket stick-on type mirror (Summit V70). But insufficient adjustment in the mirror's balljoint to cope with the rake of an Esprit's screen. Result being an excellent view of the driver's/passenger's shoulders but absolutely nothing behind the car . Anyone suggest an aftermarket stick-on/suction mirror that'll suit the Esprit? James
  20. Has now been removed from Ebay... read in to that what you will
  21. Yep, guilty as charged But then floated an alternative date for the Pishup as there seemed to be problems with hotel availability on 21st. Seems that ppl prefer the 21st though - which suits me best anyway
