  1. Yeah I think he posted in my earlier threadnon seeing an Evora in the PWC.
  2. Ahhh, I see. My mistake. Its still a beautiful car though. I'll have to try and catch it on the tc sometime soon. KW
  3. I forget, what are the engine specs od the 3eleven? But it is good to see Lotus racing in one of our top tier GT Racing series. Though PWC isnt ALMS, IMSA, etc. KW
  4. SDR, thanks for the information about the #46 Evora. Alas, this year I have not been able to keep up with the PWC like I used to do. Maybe I'll get the app that allows me to catch the livestream of the PWC races. By the way, is that the old Alex Jobs Evora? If not, what are the specs that you are running for the Pirelli World Challenge. ~&~&~ Neda, think we should revisit this topic this year?? KW. SDR, is it possible to get a poster (or some other swag) of the #46? :-) :-) KW
  5. DVR'ed the race on FS1 (big mistake. FOX Sports gooned it{effed it up} as usual with their split FS1/FS2 coverage. Had to work yesterday and missed 90% of the good stuff. Got home and watched the remaining bit I had recorded and those idjits at Fox Sports switched to the US Open with maybe an hour or so left. Was most ticked off at Fox Sports. Still am. I miss the original and independant Speed Channel-Speedvision. Hell, I wish I could see the FIAWEC races here in Louisiana as they happen. For next year,I would like to see if a GTEPro spec Evora [or four] racing for the class win. Of course I'd like to see Rossoon q1r {Noble M12/M400 American cousin} do the same. KW
  6. According to the previous article: "On that point, contrary to a recent story, Lotus is not pulling out of the US. It says it will not build a 2015 model year Evora while it works on a compliant car for 2016 with the right airbags". {I tried to C&P this quote but it wouldn't let me. Sorry} SO us yanks can expect a US-compliant Evora in two years? Once that is done could we see the return of US-compliant Elise and Exige's to the States? ~&~&~ One thing that could bring more notice of Lotus in the US, IMO, is the return of a Lotus factory team to US touring car racing such as the Pirelli World Challenge, ALMS, and whichever series' is replacing the old IMSA/GTP racing, as well as seeing a couple of privateers in SCCA. But that's just me. KW
  7. Did I read the last part of that article correctly? Lotus hasn't left the US and is contemplating a convertible Evora S for 2016??? OH HAPPY DAY!!!! Of course, I still won't be able to afford it but I can dream!!!
  8. Now that I'd have to read about. Just because it is my dream Evora S.
  9. yeah, watched the Dyson Bentley in some PWC races I watched on my laptop today. For a such a big lady that Bentley can dance. You're right about PWC being cheaper than WEC and the like, so I wonder if the 3.5L supercharged would be somewhat competitive. If not, have it bored out to either 3.7L or 4.0L. With the proper tuning that might bring about 500 or so HP. Did not know about the two drivers you mentioned. But if I did ave the cashish to run a team, they'd be my first calls to drive. The one reason I'd want a veteran in m driver lineup would be to help out the others with the optio of being my lead driver if I decide to compete in two different series or if I chose to step up to the GT class with the dreamed about Esprit while keeping my Evoras in GTS.
  10. Hehehe, of course this is all hypothetical. Hell, I wish I had $100 mil for real. Alas, ,one can only dream. ~&~&~ World Endurance Challenge, i could imagine that. I'd want to run at least one car in either the GT or GTS class of PWC. Would run 2 Evora S' and switch to twin-turbocharging instead of supercharging. Would have one veteran driver and one rookie or new driver as well as running either 2 or 4 mid-career drivers in Exige V6 Cup as a training ground/substitute proving ground. That would probably run about $20 mil there to get the cars, drivers, engineers, and whatnot tog et the program off the ground. Would also partner up with an established team (AJR, 888, etc), to spread out the engineering ideas and other stuff for T&D. I would also have a small budget just to be able to either fly the teams to Hethel for discussions with Lotus or to fly Lotus engineers to wherever my HQ was just to go over data gathered from racing. You're idea about starting out with a quartet of old Evora's specced out for whatever series I'm racing in has a lot of merit. Especially if you have a pair of the so called 'Gentlemen Driver's' (think Prince Albert von Thurn und Taxis or someone similar) running at least two of them with full support from my hypothetical team. While Porsche may be the 800 pound Sasquatch of WEC, in PWC GT its those blasted cadillacs who are the 1000 pound pain in the gluteous maximus. While the bowtie boondoggle, the blue oval banshees, and the Kia's are top of the rosters in GTS. At first I'd just want to run the Evoras for T&E purposes to gain data and possibly compete in the manufacturers and drivers championships while waiting for a new Espirit with a NA longitudinally midship-mounted Lotus version of the Toyota 4.6 or 4.7L V8 from the base model Tundra or a twin-turbocharged version the 4L V6 from the Tacoma, 4Runner or the like. (maybe even one of the Lexus 4.8L V8's). I'd still contract with Cosworth for the engines. They seem to do well with the 3.8L V8 in the Lotus T125. Would either go with Brembo, Stop Tech, or Wilwood for brakes. Eibach and/or Tein for Suspension components (Would have Lotus suspension experts do the work). Dunno about Xtrac for the gearbox but if you recommended them, good enough for me. Now for tires, I'd run Pirelli P Zero Corsa Trofeo's for PWC and use Firestone Indy Firehawks for other series. With the possibility of Falken's, Yoko's, or Toyo's as Backups. dunno about which lubriants to use. of course this is all hypothetical idea but it is good to dream. KW
  11. Okay, let's just assume an unlimited budget for now. roughly about $100 mil or so.
  12. Hmm, been awhile since I last visited this discussion. ~&~&~ If you could build the perfect GT, GT-A, GTS, GTE, GT3, and GT4 Evora that fits into speifications r the various groups, what would you do?
  13. Pour all the and strike up the ! Keep the loud pedal pinned and the quiet pedal alone! Happy 40th Birthday Bibs!!! KW
  14. I see. So the GTS Class in the PWC is similiar to the GTE and GT3 classes of the WEC and other GT series? Interesting. Hopefully we will see Lotus using a works or semi-works team sometime in the near future.
  15. SCHWEEEET!!! Now if we can just get them to race over here in the US!!
  16. Hmm, I'm reserving judgement on this for now. When more info is available and Lotus cars are more visible in the US, then I'll give the new CEO his due. Of course I won't be able to afford any Lotus vehicle in the near future (and probably not the far future either).
  17. If the Evora GTC is slightly underpowered, why not just supercharge it a la the Evora S? I apologize for my ignorance about this, but I am just curious.
  18. A way to start getting noticed and having Americans like myself get more interested in Lotus cars in my opinion is to start a presence in some of the premier touring/sport car racing in the US. The Pirelli World Championship does travel with the Indy cars to different tracks. But PWC races aren't televised until a few weeks after the races themselves. If they could have a presence in series like IMSA/ALMS/GT3/GT4, World Endurance Challenge, etc. maybe some of my fellow Americans would sit up and take notice. However, that all depends on how serious the new Lotus CEO is about returning to the American market. True making sure that the new generations of the Elise, Exige, and Evora do meet and exceed new NHTSA and DOT Federal Standards would cost a pretty penny. However, if the vehicles do well and pass all of the necessary testing and Lotus starts to sell them here in the states again, then wouldn't the rewards outweigh the risks? I.e., more cars sold and more money into Lotus' coffers for development and new engineering? KW
  19. Hedgerley, I'm a Yank and have known about the Evora since 2009. Hell, way back in the late nineties/early part of the 2000s', I spotted a Black Espirit Turbo (RHD) at the airport I used to work at in MS and knew what it was. My best friend (at the time) didn't know and asked me what it was as he drove past it in his camaro. Before that, I knew about both the Elise and Exige and wondered when a new platform Halo car would come out. I'm am extremely happy that Lotus has a new CEO. Maybe he will get Lotus back on the right track. For now, until a new Esprit is built, I consider the Evora S the temporary Lotus 'Halo' car. On another note, when Lotus builds a new Esprit, and since they do have an agreement with Toyota, why not have Lotus 'borrow' the 4.6L V8 from the Tundra and engineer it to fit in a new Esprit. Or why not rework the Cossie 3.8L V8 in the T125 to power a new Espirit? Though I can't afford any Lotus right now (and can't fit in either the Elise or Exige) I'd love to see Lotus rebuild their reputation in the US in a big way. A Gen2 or Gen3 Evora S that's a little bit larger in size and lower in price that competes real well market-wise against those in its class (Porsche Cayman, Boxster, 911, Ford V6 Mustang, Chevy V6 Camaro, Dodge V6 Challenger, etc. etc) and is well-publicised so that my fellow Americans can actually recognize one would help immensely. Another thing that Jean-Mark could do (should do???) at least back a couple of Lotus racing teams here in the US. Pirelli World Challenge, IMSA/GTP, ALMS, etc would give Lotus more visibility in American racing outside of NASCAR. A great opportunity would be to get back into the IRL and supply teams with a Lotus engine that actually works and has enough spare parts, horsepower, and development to be competitive in the top open-wheel series in the US (though interest in Indy Car Racing has waned significantly since the CART/IRL split of the mid to late nineties.). I know I'm probably preaching to the choir, here but more Lotus visibility in the USA in the form of new generations of Elise, Exige, and Evora vehicles could not hurt. KW
  20. recorded the game, watched it after work (after I found out that Arsenal won). Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Was a bit chuffed that Hull City scored twice in ten minutes but was happy that Arsenal got one back before halftime. Did want to see Sanogo score a goal but in the end he did get a semi-assist. Wonder where Bendtner and Gnabry are? Wanted to see Gnabry play. Maybe we'll see him playing in the future. As an Arsenal fan, I'm extremely well-chuffed we won this one after 9 years of heartache and heartbreak. KW
  21. \And make triple-dammed sure it has a modern MANUAL transmission. Hell, make a 6-speed manual THE go to base model transmission for this car before offering up a paddle-shifted DSG, and a slushbox automatic (better yet, screw putting and autobox in this car. Manual tranny is the way to go!!!)
  22. I see. Because Lotus is being stingy with the cash, their race cars are not getting the development they need (well, except for the Exige V6 I think). I would think that if Lotus wanted to develop more road going Evora's, they'd be champing at the bit to get race car versions to the tracks just for testing the ideas. Of course they have to pony up the money but, If I was in the financial department of Lotus, I'd be looking everywhere for a racing team who needs cars to race. I'd give them maybe two cars at a discount and send every thing they would need to develop the cars. Of course, that will never happen. For the GTS class of PWC, aren't the cars supposed to have around 400 or 450 Horsepower while the true GT cars are pushing around the 500-600 Hp mark? Hehe, can't afford any car right now, much less a used Lotus racecar. The PWC and FIA GT rulebooks don't allow for an engine change even though the engine manufacturer is the same? How does that keep the Cosworth V8 out of the Evora?? KW
  23. I wonder why nobody takes the Evora GX (would supercharge it) and races it in the US. Would love to see an Evora S with the Cossie 3.8L V8 from the Lotus T125. Maybe Lotus needs to take a look at the PWC rule book for the different classes. KW
  24. Thanks for the info. Would you happen to have pics of the Evora in Question? I'm trying to find some but having a hard time., Wondering why they didn't go with an Evora GTX (or whichever is the one built for racing)
