  1. Morning. It is currently up on eBay at £370 with pics as I can't post any more pics on here. The chassis includes steering column and uj. Anti roll bar with technical bulletin upgraded supports. Rear diff and drive shafts. The chassis is in very good order with very little corrosion. This chassis has both sets of rear mounting points for the early and late models of excel. Cheers Kieran Sorry I didn't read that before I posted. The diff would be £100 on its own. It was from a low mileage SE.
  2. Hi all I am looking to reduce my stock of excels considerably. Posting here for serious enquiries before posting elsewhere and the general riff raff access. In my current possession I have: - A chassis with suspension parts but no shocks and springs on the rear. It has the diff and driveshafts. - A black early narrow body. This is the iron cross wheel version with no bo net vents. It comes 95% complete with engine, gearbox, diff etc and gratis MOSS on the floor. No carbs or inlet manifold. Cam covers are either in the boot or missing. This is a complete rebuild required. Not for the faint of heart. - Pete Booles previous project. The 7 litre V8 flipfront car. This is a fully caged rolling chassis with many of the upgrades still in place such as stainless steel fuel tank. It is missing the diff and driveshafts, engine and gearbox. An incredible starting point for an epic build. If you need to ask about this car.... Please use the Google function first. Ping me a message. Fueltheburn Regards Kieran
  3. Mildred still there then. I don't see a chopped excel. Is that still my side? 🤣
  4. If I was on a landline I would get 1.5mbps and have to pay around 30 for the privilege. I have a sim enabled Hauwei router. In this I put a mobile sim costing 35/monthfrom EE that allows up to 1TB of download data and 10 devices before being considered commercial use achieving 90mbps down and 40 up. This is NOT a data sim. You would have to pay more and get a smaller data specific package. EE and 3 are the only companies who currently allow tethering in their small print.
  5. Before you get to Pitlochry however. Take the route that will bring you past the lake and peak district. A and B roads in the UK take a bit longer to navigate but by far provide you with the best experience. Just read the above again... You say you won't have time for Pitlochry. Honestly the road from Newcastle up on the dual carriageway is boring as hell. I have moved from KininmonthK. Kettle is always on but even my relocation to Tarves is still out of the way for you.
  6. You have to take the Pitlochry road that goes past Glenshea. Via this road you go over the Fettercairns, avoiding all the speed cameras between Perth and Aberdeen plus avoid the awfully boring road that they are sited on. For many years, old "proper" top gear filmed all of their sequences on the Pitlochry road.
  7. Any house can accommodate 25mm it just requires adjustment of other pieces. I.e doors trimming, skirting put in after the flooring etc or adaption. None of which are a problem if you are rebuilding a house like bibs. We were rebuilding and removed tiles previously in some areas we just lost some height of the previous skirting and just held in place with beading in some areas and used new skirting in others. Obviously those houses with concrete floors can skip the 6mm plyboard. This was to level up our floorboards and create a flatter base.
  8. Not a fan of any of the thin stuff, vinyl included. You need a 6mm plyboard to lay down in older houses and then a very good quality 3-5mm foam underlay. I used a vapour barrier silver version that interlocks. I have just completed the conservatory, hallway and bedroom in 15mm engineered bamboo and I will be doing the next house in it. Wonderful stuff it is warm, flexes, moisture resistant and woodworm and termites hate it! Houses in our area typically don't have subsidence as the ground is all granite.
  9. You didn't read into that deep enough from other sources.... Moronic woman looking down at her phone stepped out into the road on a green light for traffic. I hate cyclists but on this occasion they have punished the wrong person. If you are looking at your phone, you are not in control, even as a pedestrian. We get these morons all the time in Aberdeen. Seen a few run down as a result of randomly stepping out whilst looking at their phone.
  10. Gradually gaining ground on those annoying jobs that have been holding me back. Progress however has required me to cut off my nose to spite my face. Harsh progress but necessary.
  11. Have you seen the adverts for joining the army now. It basically states if you have no aspirations in life and nobody else will take you.... I suppose you will have to do. Bloody terrible.
  12. For the record. Most of us hate Jimmy Cranky. Enough of the independence... YOU LOST!
  13. Unlikely to need cleaning at that age then. The cold does make a big difference. Original cats tend to be double skinned for more heat retention and quicker warm-up. Most sports cats i have seen are single skinned for lighter weight plus cheaper and quicker construction. The way to get a sports cat through is a hard drive and literally drive into the MOT as it's time is called before putting it onto the emissions machine. If it passed everything else you can get it re-tested on just this. Depending on what materials you have to hand in a drawer or garage? Wrapping the cat in manifold wrap is always an option for heat retention. Or refer to the sports cat manufacturer and question whether it will pass an MOT? Likely the reply will come back "Not for road use" as catalytic converters have to be type approved and that is expensive for the certs. Is it high CO or unburnt hydrocarbons it's failing on?
  14. Has the cat been on long? If it has been on a few years, it might be worth running a bottle of cataclean through to clear off any contaminants. Even the cleanest modern engines burn oil with the blowby from the crankcase vapours and egr being sent into the engine. When cleaning rx8s and diesels I run water and windscreen fluid via a high pressure nozzle after the maf to clean the induction pipework, valves, combustion chambers and cat. Do it when the engine is relatively cool and it will make it to the cat to clean it out. You can see the carbon in the chambers on the rotaries has gone from thick oily black to light grey deposits. While you are at it. It is worth cleaning all of the sensors ie MAF, IAT, MAP and any other ignition applicable sensor to make sure it is running as clean as possible.
