  1. I was wondering whether anyone knows if HR Owen in Acton is actually an approved Lotus Service Centre and if so what people's experience is. They make no reference at all to Lotus on their website. I live in Hertfordshire and used to use Hexagon (where the service was outstanding) but they no longer do official service so I have to find someone else. I have a pesky airbag light that needs to be reset after having a battery change, so I need someone with the right kit to do the service. Any advice much appreciated!
  2. It looks like an excellent evolution of the Evora, which is a fantastic drivers car. Personally I love the looks and I’m confident that’s this will drive even better than the Evora. We should all be proud of what our favourite car manufacturer has come up with! Can’t wait to see it in the flesh.
  3. I just wanted to sat thanks to the various posters on this issue. I had the traction control light come on on my Evora 400 whilst out on Saturday and it go into limp mode. LIke other owners, I couldn't operate the sport or race modes or the traction control. It seem to reset after a quick restart of the car but the problem came back shortly afterwards, this time with the MIL light and the spanner symbol as well. After reading this forum I bought a replacement brake pedal switch from Elise Parts (£28, including fast shipping) and fitted it today. I used my OBD device to reset the codes (which referred to some malfunction of the throttle actuator control) and boom, problem solved. I've just been for a 30 mile drive with no issues. Before I replaced it I could barely drive 5 minutes without a fault appearing. Fingers crossed that's the problem solved. It's a simple job to replace it. A couple of points I noted - you have to make sure the grey plunger is set to 5 clicks (push it all the way in and carefully click it out 5 clicks) and secondly I noticed how much tighter the new switch fitted into the slot than the one I removed (it was easy to remove the old one but quite hard to turn the new one the 90 degrees to lock it into place). I reckon that with time and use it had become slightly loose in the slot and that had caused it to become erratic. Special thanks to 2011 Chrome Orange for the pics. They really helped. It's a GM part and has three numbers 09132299 / 09175172 / 09/175185
  4. That’s a shame as they are excellent ambassadors. They told us they still sell new cars and had quite a few in stock. I do hope they are supported by Lotus. We need great dealers.
  5. I have to share with all the great fans of Lotus a short tale of a trip to France a couple of weeks ago. My Evora was shipped to Toulouse but was dead on arrival as the shippers had left the passenger door slightly open and the 5 day trip killed the battery. Having got her jump started I was troubled to see the MIL light on the dash and a quick read of the manual said I needed to get the car seen to ASAP. Fortunately Marcassus Sport in Toulouse is a Lotus dealer and boy did they do our brand proud! The moment I arrived there they greeted us with a fantastic welcome and immediately took the car into the workshop. The technician put the diagnostic tool onto the car, assured me that it had no faults, reset the MIL and tested my battery (which he conformed was fine). He gave me and my 6 friends a coffee and refused to take any payment for his services. He said I was "part of the family"! We went on to drive nearly 2,500 miles over the following 2 weeks and my little beauty didn't miss a beat. A great trip was rescued by Hugo at Marcassus. If you are in the are, go and see him. He loves Lotus! A couple of pics for you too!
  6. It could have been mine that was spotted in St A. I know another orange Evora owner in St A. An S1. We should arrange a convoy!
  7. Like you I was fascinated by the 570s, but being an Evora 400 owner thought the 570s can’t be that much different / better. After attending 2 funerals in a week I went to see a 570s spider and fell in love at first sight - so I bought it. Life is short it seems. What a car! It’s got a Lotus like feel, but the powertrain is awesome. In sport mode the turbo lag is minimal and the gear change fast and smooth, which gives super linear power delivery. Handling is on a par with the Evora and the dihedral doors are a spectacle every time you open them. It’s fantastic. I’ve only got 1000 miles on it so far, but it’s truly spectacular. The spider has an electric rear window, so you can hear those twin turbos with the roof and windows up. I’d love that in the Evora. I kept the Evora as well and took that for a spin last weekend. I realised that despite being about 40% of the cost of the 570s it’s probably 95% as good. My Evora 400 is an auto so I can compare the two. Lotus is much rawer, has the best exhaust note by far and it feels much smaller, despite have more room inside and being easier to get in and out of. Gearbox isn’t quite McLaren slick, but it’s quick enough and the blip and crackle on downshift makes me laugh every time! There’s plenty of power for any road use in the UK and is only outshaded by the sheer drama and extra power of the McLaren. I reckon the Evora is a more practical daily user. Its early days with the 570s, I hope I get to love it as much as my Lotus. For sure, the Evora is a keeper. good luck with your decision. They’re both awesome cars. Pics of both below
  8. On tour in Europe. Evora looks the part in these surroundings. Can you guess the other 4 cars?
  9. I should be able to come. Keen to meet a few members. Evorasteve
  10. Final few images from my European tour. The 400 was perfect. Sadly I cracked my windscreen and am having trouble getting a replacement. The Evora looks pretty sharp even in such esteemed company. Now to plan next years trip....
  11. Fast trip back to France today from Austria, via Germany. 820km in just over 6 hours, including 2 fuel stops and lunch. You've got to love the autobahn. The Germans know how to make things work. I squeezed out 160mph desperately chasing the others but at 201mph the Aventador won the prize. He swept past me and the dirty air was alarming. Still, my Evora was sensational. Seats truly remarkable- no ounce of discomfort and I was sad to arrive. Gentlemen (and ladies) we have a rare and very special car. I'm already counting down the days until I'm having fun in Europe again. Tell you're friends and neighbours to buy a 400. They won't regret it!
  12. Fantastic couple of days driving the alpine passes in Austria and Italy. Plenty of great straights, chicanes and gut wrenching mountain passes. The 400 has been simply sensational. It's given the Turbo S a good run for its money and made the Lambo look a bit feeble on the twisty stuff. A couple of minor irkes will be sorted when I'm back (together with fresh oil after all the 2nd & 3rd gear stuff at 6500 rpm) but I have to say it's been better than I could have hoped. We spent 45 mins trying to get a personal best on the last mile before the Italian border, turning round and trying again. So addictive. Just over 3000 miles in 5 days. What a car. If you've got one, get to Austria!
  13. Porsche factory and museum are a must. The attention to detail is startling. You can see why they are so successful. Great day out if you get the chance. I'll post some pics of the museum if anyone is interested. No factory pics as they don't permit cameras Then Stuttgart to Stelvio. 600km. First 200 on the autobahn. Managed 150mph with plenty to spare (but notable wind noise) but nothing fell off! Then the Evora came into its own. Fantastic switch back passes in Austria and Switzerland. The Evora was almost on a par on the autobahn with the Turbo, Aventador and 918 but really shone on the passes where it was flicked through the hairpins as easy as pie. As a bonus I used half the fuel of the Aventador. Got to confess that the 918 is the most awesome car ever and the Lamborghini is a crowd pleaser. Love my 400 though. Hope you like the pics.
  14. First stop on our European tour - showing the Evora to the home of Porsche with a 918, an Aventador and a Turbo S. Stelvio tomorrow.

    Irony

My 1997 911 4s had a fuel pump relay failure whilst I was on the M1 in the outside lane. Engine stopped, loss of power steering and no brakes. A common fault apparently. Sold it pdq. My 4 Lotuses have never missed a beat. LOTUS = Loads Of Thrills Usually Scintillating!
  16. Superb choice. I'm really pleased I went for orange. You certainly get papped a lot. You're going to love it. Trouble is when you pop out for a bottle of milk it's always a 50 mile round trip! Bet you can't wait to get back to play with it.
  17. Sounds like you better be careful...
  18. Oh well. I guess that means more time to play.....
  19. That's my baby. Been a superb run. At a bar in Gisors at the moment watching the England match. Done about 800 miles on the sensational French roads. Might even have slightly exceeded the speed limit at times! Even the heavy rain can't stop me loving the trip. Hopefully it'll be drier tomorrow. I didn't see any other 400's but the locals loved the exhaust note. Happy days!
  20. I was just outside Christchurch this morning and I had stopped at a light. Guy next to me in an R8 lowered his window and said he'd followed me and thought it was a Ferrari. He was disappointed when I told him it was a Lotus and he then challenged me to a race down the bypass! I declined his kind offer as he clearly knew so little about cars and I have to avoid any more points to keep my licence. Shame as I'd have loved to see he face as I left him in my wake. Hope everyone's enjoying the bank holiday weekend in England!
  21. I took delivery of mine in March - got full leather pack. Overall fit and finish is great, but the rattles are starting to bug me. Must be my OCD! I'll keep looking, including having a poke in the engine bay. I think one of the rattles is from the plastic surround for the Alpine. I can see some foam between the top of the surround and the bottom of the dash, so it looks like they may have tried to fix it at some point before delivery. I don't fancy getting the silicon sealant out yet or it'll end up looking like my shower! I guess I'll end up living with it. I'll let the dealer have the car a bit longer next year for service. Shame though. Keep the suggestions coming....
  22. I'm now 1.500 miles into my Evora 400 and I love it. it was the best money I have ever spent if it was for just one thing....do any other owners have annoying rattles? I had an Evora S before the 400 and that had no such issues. Could it be the firmer suspension set up or are the plastics cheaper and creakier? I recently took mine for its first service and mentioned them to the dealer and, unsurprisingly, they were unable to do anything about them. There seem to be a few in the cabin and whilst the exhaust note and radio can generally drown them out I am irritated by them. If anyone has fixed any rattles, can you guide me as to where to look. The plastic surround to the infotainment centre looks one area, but the air vents and general dash area also could be suspect. Sorry to post a gripe about such a spectacular car, but I think it can be even more special with less rattles!
  23. From the other brother.....beautiful day, spectacular cars.
  24. Loved this angle as I filled up this morning. Got in a few quick curves first thing - perfect start to the weekend......
