  1. Hi, From 7th to 13th September a Stelvio 2020 Lotus tour will take place from The Netherlands. From 9th to 12th September this tour will be a joined event of Bends and Curves road tripping and Delightful Driving. DD is the road tripping project of Elisa Artioli and Joerg Uhr. Since the Elise was first shown to public on 12th September 1995 in Frankfurt, the theme of this tour is Elise 25th anniversary. For more information and for registration visit https://www.bendsandcurves.com/2020/07/03/stelvio-2020/. Registration means you will be updated about the program and costs as soon as possible. It will be a brilliant tour, that's for sure! Regards, Jan Blom Bends and Curves road tripping
  2. Hello all, time flies! In two days time our NC500 adventure will start. If you'd like you can follow this adventure on my website www.bendsandcurves.com. We'll be in Bo'ness for the Lotus meeting on 12 June evening. I'm in contact with Andrew Laing for this, maybe a meeting and drive up with Scottish Lotus owners in the afternoon of 12 June is possible; we'll be coming in from the Cairngorms, maybe our lunchstop at the Dalmunzie Castle Hotel is a good meeting place. We'll be there approximately at 1.30 pm. I think Andrew is checking this out with Scottish Lotus drivers. Cheers, Jan
  3. Hi Al, thank you very much for replying and the information. In the meantime I have been in contact with Brian and Jim Love who pointed out some other points of interest in the neighbourhood like the train museum and his help to get in touch with Colin of the Motor Museum. It all sounds really good and we definitely would like to meet you all in Bo'ness! Since I'm a member of Club Lotus as well as Lotus Drivers Club that shouldn't be a problem then ;-). In 1 or 2 weeks time I will be planning the itinerary for that day and then I will check on the hotels/B&B's; I've heard from others too the area around Bo'ness maybe better suited for 'tourists' to stay. I will check on Stirling for sure. It would be great if you can pop it up at tonights meeting and get a point of contact. Have a pleasant evening, Cheers, Jan
  4. Hello Brian and others :-), The preparation for the road trip has lead to a plan ;-). It wil take place from 5th June 2019 when we will cross the sea with DFDS to Newcastle until 13th June when we will sail back. The itinerary is ready also, except for 1 day: Wednesday 12th June when we will cover Inverness back to the Edinburgh area. The finish of that day is not planned yet. I think I've read somewhere that in Bo'ness areameetings of LEGS take place, is that correct? It would be the perfect stop for us on 12th June. If a meeting with some guys and girls of LEGS and other enthousiasts on that evening could be arranged, it would make us very happy :-). With whom could I get in contact to try to arrange this? In the meantime I am working on a website (www.bendsandcurves.com) for the participants of the road trip. It is in Dutch but with the pictures maybe it makes some sense ;-). Only 5th June and 6th June of the itinerary are ready. When the other days of the itinerary are filled I will use more photo's of Duggie and Gerry! Cheers and hope to find some info about Bo'ness!
  5. Hi Kieran, thanks for your reply. We're arriving in Newcastle early morning. Since we only have 1 day to cover the distance to Inverness I'm afraid Kininmonth and Fettercairns are a bit to far east for us 😞. We do pass Pitlochry though, it seems. Maybe we can avoid the dual carriageways in the second part of that day, if we are on schedule to arrive in Inverness somewhere late afternoon. But thanks for thinking with me!
  6. Hi Gerry, thank you so much for the info!! For now I'm planning the route for satnav (with MyRouteApp) so I can share the route with the other participants, but I will keep your offer in mind! The photo's are great and the info so useful! Thanks again and when I have some questions about what you wrote I will sent you a PM. Have a great day, Regards Jan Hi Duggie, also a big thank you to you! This all makes me wish it was June already. I will sent you a PM if I would like to know some more :-). Best regards, Jan
  7. Thanks Brian! In a few weeks time the dates should be set; I will update this topic as soon as possible.
  8. Hi all, With the fantastic memories of the Jim Clark Memorial Tour 2018 of April in mind, I'm planning a new road trip for a group of Dutch Lotus owners and enthousiasts. All participants of the JCMT2018 want to taste more of wonderful Scotland. And the challenge of the North Coast 500 is so appealing that it didn't need much encouragement and persuation to make this our goal. June 2019 will be the month to do it. We will probably be with 8-10 cars and 12-15 people. Since we can't make it a trip of two weeks, we are limited to 5 full days for the 500 miles. This means we will probably miss out on enjoying all of the sceneries, but since more road trips are planned in 2019 choices have to be made. Maybe you can help me with some info: Suggestions for accomodation is welcome. I've got a membership on the NC500 website where accomodation is featured, but own experciences help a lot. The same goes for the 'must-stops'. Recommendations are welcome. I'm looking for photo's of Lotus on the NC500 to use in the road book and website I want to built. If you have them and I can use them, please post them in this topic. Actually all tips and suggestions are welcome. Looking forward to your info. Regards, Jan

We've met some TLF members during the JCMT2018 and these were all fantastic meetings. Actually all tips and suggestions are welcome. Looking forward to your info. Regards, Jan
  10. Nice, just paid for a party of 3 from the Netherlands (Jan, Joost) and Italy (Elisa). Hope we will be there in time, all horror stories about traffic on Friday from Dover to Norwich make that I hope you all keep some meat on the grill until late at night 😉
  11. Hi, From The Netherlands a convoy organised by Van der Kooi Sportscars will be using the HoH-Harwich connection friday evening. Me and my co-pilot-with-a-rather-big-Elise-heart 😉instead prefer to drive so we plan to arrive in Dover via Antwerp and Calais somewhere around 2-3 pm and from there we'll take the various Mxx's to arrive in Norwich Central Hotel somewhere end of the afternoon of maybe early evening. Sunday morning we'll leave from the hotel direction Stanstead. Suggestions to join a convoy are welcome!!
  12. Found a perfectly good one at Frederic Koninckx Motors near Antwerp 🙂
  13. Hi, yeah I have emailed them, no reply yet. Thanks for the offer, I wait for a used one for now.
  14. Hi, a moment of stupidness means my Elise S1 has no fuel filler cap anymore. Someone at a petrol station in Sterzing Italy is probably the new owner. Hence I'm looking for an original replacement. Anyone?
  15. Thanks all for meeting us in the Bird in Hand! Our trip was already great but you've lifted it to fantastic! Special thanks to Phil for coördinating it all. It was wonderful. Today we've planned a tour to the coast (direction Great Yarmouth) and the to Southwold for lunch. After that we'll drive on to Harwich for our final dinnerstop and then off to the ferry. Please contact me when you're in Holland so maybe we can arrange a meeting and tour at our side of the sea (jsblom@gmail.com or +31 6 2866 2491). Thanks again, stay well! Kind regards, Jan
  16. Dry cold wheather is on its way, so maybe some miles can be covered this weekend and coming week :-). Looking forward to April already!
  17. Hi Phil, could you let me know at what time approx. you guys will be at The Bird in Hand on April 9th for the meeting? We will have dinner with our group at The Bird in Hand, and they would like to know at what time we want to eat.

Do you also have dinner at The Bird in Hand with eachother or is the meeting after dinner? Of course we can all have dinner togehther but then we should let the manager know I guess.

    Regards, Jan

Jan. Ok, I have spoken to The Bird In Hand. They confirm the booking for 20 spaces to eat. The booking was for 7:30pm. However I took the decision and extended it to 7:45pm. This is because firstly people from here have to get home from work, put the kids to bed, do whatever and then come out so sometimes 7pm is quite difficult to get there on time. Also there are going to be maybe 6 cars the uk guys have not seen before and hopefully a few you have never seen so I'm sure we will need a bit of time in the carpark!  Will be nice for everyone to have a chat around the cars before sitting down to dinner. Hope you agree. They also asked if it will be possible to confirm everyone's meal order by 2nd April as the group is hopefully going to be in the region of 20 people. If you PM me you're email address I will get a menu to you. If you can get the order to me I will ensure the pub get it in time. I am writing this on an old unreliable iPad so will update the forum tomorrow from a computer. Hope all this is ok with you. Phil

Hi Phil, thank you for arranging things with The Bird in Hand. 7.45 pm or later is no problem, of course everybody should have some time to do their personal things at home. And for sure we want to spent time in the carpark :-).

I'll PM my e-mail and will spread the menu amongst our participants.

Thanks again, all you've arranged is totally ok with us!

  18. Thanks a lot Filip! I've added your input to the longlist --> next step is bringing it down to a shortlist. Thanks again! Yep, that's the idea. I've sent a request to al tourmembers, from that I'll make a list with who will bring what to prevent each taking the same thing ;-).
  19. Hi, in April we are travelling with a group of 8 Lotus from the Netherlands to Scotland and England. The roadtrip takes a week. Since it's the first roadtrip I'm organizing I'm looking for what abolutely not to forget taking with us. Aim is getting to a checklist for (technical) things which are not so obvious but might come in handy. Any suggestions based on experience, outside the obvious (car, carkey ?) and keeping in mind that the luggagespace is sort of cramped?....of course we are travelling with 8 cars so we can split the things up...
  20. Hi Brian, The Sunday plan sounds great but ... we are leaving Sunday 8th April early in the morning because on that day we'll travel to the Midlands for a stopover before we drive to the Lotus Factory and Classic Team Lotus on Monday 9th April. Since we want to drive through more or less smaller roads we'll need that day to cover some 300 miles; at the end of that day we'll have a meeting with some Lotus owners from the Midlands in Smithys Marina Bar near Derby. We arrive in Newcastle on Thursday morning 5th April to drive a scenary route to Lauder in the Border region. We managed to get a route in GPX but if you know more nice ones we're of course curious to know them! We'll stay in The Black Bull Hotel Lauder for 3 nights. On Friday and Saturday we'll take part in the commemoration organized by Club Lotus / Jim Clark Trust / Chirnside Common Good. Still, it would be great if we could meet up on Friday or Saturday in Duns/Chirnside! Kind regards, Jan
  21. Thanks a lot Phil, we are looking forward to April already!
  22. Hi, I'm organizing the Jim Clark Memorial Tour 2018 for Dutch Lotus owners. We will be participating in the commemoration of Jim Clark on 6th and 7th April 2018. We are with a group of 8 cars and 12 people. We'll arrive at Newcastle on Thursday 5th April 2018 somewhere around 9.30 am. Maybe some fellow Lotus people from England would like to join in our tour to the Border region? We'll make use of single carriage ways, a GPX file will be available. On Sunday April 8th we will drive south to visit the Lotus factory and Classic Team Lotus on Monday 9th April. Sunday 8th April in the afternoon and evening we will be at Smithys Marina Bar in Shardlow, between Derby and Nottingham (Midlands). Smithys is run by Adam Smith, a former Superkart guy. It would be great to meet some fellow Lotus owners from the Midlands area and surroundings. After spending the night south of Nottngham we will drive on to Hethel on Monday 9th April. After the Heritage tour at Lotus we will be staying in The Bird in Hand in Wreningham near Hethel where the Norfolk forum has their monthly gathering. In the evening we will meet them. Staying in The Bird in Hand comes in handy then ;-). So if folks want to join us in Newcastle, Smithys or The Bird in Hand, let me know. Anyway, I will make a Facebook page for this tour when April is nearer, so you can follow our whereabouts. Kind regards, Jan
  23. Hi Phil, I wanted to let you guys and gals know that our group will stay for the night at the Bird in Hand on Monday 9th April. It will be a Dutchies place for 1 night - 7 out of 8 rooms are booked by us - so bring your wooden shoes for some dancing ;-). We will have the factory tour and CTL tour that afternoon from 13.00 hrs onwards. It would be great if the meeting is still on for that evening, we're looking forward to meeting you all!
  24. Hi Phil, great! Already looking forward meeting you all. And the route from Hethel to Dartford Crossing (in opposite direction) would be nice; we can use it to Colchester :-)
  25. Hello Phill, That's very kind of you and we - I'm sure the group agrees with me - would like to meet you all Monday April 9th in the evening in this pub. I'll put it in the program for the trip and inform the others. We'll stay in touch, I'll PM you when the date is getting closer. Btw, the group is 13 people / 8 Lotus. Thanks again, Jan
