  1. If you get permanent residency status? I bet that goes down as well there as it does for immigrants here?
  2. Can you bring a sex discrimination case against them?
  3. Is the healthcare free? If not, how do you access and at what cost? What happens as you age and need support (help) with care etc? Is it accessible and affordable? Do they have a robust and trusted legal structure, especially around property, land, etc? These would be my primary concerns when moving abroad at a later life stage. Everything else is reasonably inconsequential assuming you are not moving somewhere that is a magnet for earthquakes, tsunamis or hurricanes...
  4. My understanding was main dealers were around £4.5k, a good independent around £3k. The price reduction to the Labour time reduction as the Independents had worked out how to do it without taking the rear clam off, which is the "by the book" way. This was around 5 years ago and I suspect more clutches have been changed so the process has been well rehearsed and refined by now by many, including main dealers.
  5. It would seem not! The below is interesting. It's not a game changer but it does show that manufacturers have been working hard in the background looking at alternatives, and those alternatives could well be viable, but, not today, not tomorrow, but in a couple of years. https://www.ecoticias.com/en/carmakers-new-engine/1022/ Again for balance, EV for city cars all day long. Alternative fuels are required for other use cases. For instance, just back from a 700 mile round trip as my mother had had a fall. Luckily, my daily had a full tank of fuel so after driving 298 miles south, the pottering around getting stuff sorted for just over a hundred miles mostly in towns, I drove the 298 miles back. That was 700 miles in total, on a tank of fuel, with enough fuel left over for 104 miles when back home - I averaged 54.6 mpg in a large E-Class Convertible! No faffing about at services to refuel/recharge the car, no range anxiety, no stress. You just cannot do anything like that in the current EV's. I've got a lot of work coming up in Manchester which will need to be commute the 290 miles each way every other week. I will not, I believe, be able to do that as a single journey of 290 miles one way in ANY current EV on the market without having to stop to recharge along the way. I can do the whole return journey without refuelling with ease in my ICE, and probably cheaper too if the EV meant I had to use public superchargers. To replace the fuel on the 700 mile journey cost me £90 - less than £0.13p a mile. Change is coming. EV's are a huge part of the answer, but they are just that, "part" of the answer.
  6. According to a statement released by Mr Netanyahu's office after the meeting, the Israeli Prime Minister told Lord Cameron: "I want to make it clear - we will make our own decisions, and the State of Israel will do everything necessary to defend itself." I think our response should be that the UK also makes its own decisions and will no longer be supplying arms to Israel. Israel believes it is OK to bomb a foreign embassy on foreign soil, against all international conventions, and then gets surprised that they get retaliated against so believe they also then need to retaliate accusing the other party as the "aggressors". This is like school yard bullies. Crazy.
  7. Keep reporting. Keep pushing. Eventually the system will kick in. It's all you can do. Stay strong...
  8. There is no "thinks" about it @eeyoreish as this IS real and happening. Good point re the stress and mental health, I'd be hitting Council hard with that and asking how they manage "vulnerable" groups like you and your kids to avoid any future confusion, stress and mental harm for you all.
  9. She's been given so many chances, when does the law actually get teeth? Again, if this was man on woman you'd be locked up in serious shit for less than this. I think a complaint to the chief Commissioner and The CPS is surely in order - or whomever we are supposed to hold accountable these days. Surely there's enough to at least get her sectioned here?
  10. Barry, there are quite tough controls already in place, in the UK, the US etc. However, you cannot, despite Governments trying to for years, legislate against stupidity. It's easy to blame the system, but I bet you a tenner she had made her mind up re that car and "wanted" it. It's a few years down the line that she now regrets it, probably because she's tried to flip this car now and has seen what a mess she has gotten herself into. You can kick a can down the road but eventually you catch up to it. It was the playing of the victim card that suggested to me she does cannot take responsibility, and these people are allowed to be parents!
  11. Wonder why? Because she's stupid maybe?
  12. Grown adult woman buys car she can't really afford. Finally, the reality hits her. Refuses to accept she is stupid so blames car dealer and GM Finance and accuses them of taking advantage of the fact she was a woman! No dear. You decided that at 28 you needed an 85,000 USD car. You signed the paperwork. If you didn't know what you were getting into then don't sign. Oh, and did I mention she was in negative equity on her px so decided to roll that debt into the new car? Why can't people take responsibility? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmoney/consumer/article-13302555/auto-loans-debt-car-ownership.html
  13. Should have had a can of XXXX in your hand a smile!
  14. If ever there was a slow motion car crash that sounds like one I'm afraid. It's everything I hate about the "typical" expat and their life choices.
  15. An awful lot of Americans are now seemingly immigrants Baja California in Mexico. The immigration problem north to south seemingly not creating the same news headlines as South to North The town of Ensenada and the coast around it seems appealing. Looks like many Americans feel the same way about 'Murica that we do about the Disunited Kingdom.
  16. Plenty of exhaust options around to be honest. Find the right car for you, then if needed, upgrade the exhaust. The hard part will be finding the colour/spec you want as just not many around. Enjoy!
  17. It happens all too often were just 1 complaint seems to spark action Now, on the other hand, no number of complaints to councils on people being pigs, littering, paths nort being cleared, nor pot holes fixed and yes, all of a sudden the Council is to busy. Start a campaign, get hundreds to write to the Council praising the Garden then ask why they are pandering to one, rather than the whole community. Hold them to account.
  18. And, even cheaper if you buy through TLF and get the discount!
  19. Hopefully they gave her a stern talking to too, and left her in no doubt her behaviour was not acceptable nor would be tolerated? We can but live in hope.
  20. @Black Art Graphics and @Al that looks fantastic, really high quality art work. Wonder if the Evora Sport 410 owners would be open to this idea given that there were only about 27 UK cars ever made, it would be quite an addition to go with the super rare car. Thoughts? @mods - is there a better place to put this request?
  21. Have they responded yet? The Police that is.
  22. Western Cape for me. Love it. There are tensions in SA of course but then tension seems to be everywhere. To be honest, it feels to me like the UK is a powder keg as our politicians sink lower and lower in their quality and standards. People are increasingly selfish and entitled. And immigrants who want to come here seem to want to convert it to their native country as opposed to recognising our culture and values. Us native Brits are just as guilty of that last point. Look at some of the British immigrants to parts of France, Spain, Portugal etc who create their "British" communes with their British pubs, bridge clubs, Etc. as opposed to fully embracing a new way of life and culture.
  23. Lorries I get @Bibs, but cars? Come on now, your argument is thin and tenuous surely? Not sure of the real "need" for night vision either in something that is looking backwards when you already have cameras for parking. It's just another example of technology for technologies sake which uses up more resources, adds weight and sophistication, etc. But hey, the way things are going in 10 years they'll be no "drivers" of new cars as the tech will fully take over and we'll all just be passengers.
