  1. Let’s not forget the £m poured in to fund under performing final salary pension schemes every year and in one off top up's. This figure should be a mandatory declaration on the annual bluff that all councils provide to their CT payers. No wonder council workers never want to leave their jobs, although looking at how many of them currently perform I doubt that they would last long in the outside world.

Too much wear of the wooden plank on the floor of the car = disqualification Knowingly overspending budget rules = a slap on the wrist Thats why F1 is now just one big money grabbing joke!
  3. That’s the worst we’ve known it in 23 years here. Probably all down to the local planning dept allowing 20 homes to be built on what was a flood plain 2 years ago about 1 mile down river. Quite a few of the neighbours now planning to bombard the local council with a “we told you what would happen and we were right” approach. Luckily the water would have to have risen a further 4 feet before the house was threatened.
  4. I honestly believe that it is time that parents were held fully responsible for their precious siblings by prosecuting them for all crimes committed by their children up to 18 years of age It is the only way that may make many parents take responsibility for their children. I know that some parents don’t take any responsibility for themselves but it’s time they were dealt with like dog owners, who get fined and penalised for not keeping their dogs under control. We need MPs, the police force, magistrates and society in general to start to grow some balls. They are all co-responsible for the gradual fall in standards over the past decades.
  5. On the way out 6 days ago we decided to try to minimise risk by being as clinical as possible through the airport (at both ends) and decided to follow the Canadian guy’s theory when boarding and on the plane. We will do the same for the return journey. Yes @C8RKH you are correct, there will be many things missed along the way and yes @Rambo you are correct re type of mask etc. Since I appear on the ‘vulnerable’ list it would be crazy to act all macho and be totally ‘gung-ho’ about CV-19 but it is also crazy to regard oneself as a hermit and never travel anywhere etc. We know the risks so try to minimise as much as possible. Fortunately the 1 time I did catch CV-19 the NHS were very efficient and administered antivirals within 4-5 hours of me reporting that I had tested +ve. I never really felt ill afterwards but I don’t take for granted that it would be the same the next time so we still try to minimise the risk as much as it is practical to do so.
  6. I heard an interesting point of view from a Canadian health official last month, who was talking about wearing of masks on aircraft. His theory is that wearing of masks is beneficial during boarding, whilst the plane is sitting on the tarmac, before it reaches cruising speed/altitude and again during landing and disembarking. During flight at cruising speed/altitude it is believed that the mix and speed of fresh air recirculating is sufficient to question the benefit of wearing a mask. I decided to give his theory a try so 🤞🙏
  7. Have my 7th booked for 5th Oct, 3 days after getting back home from Croatia. Just hoping that there’s nothing nasty floating around in the air on the plane home🤞
  8. Not a protest at all, just vandalism based upon jealousy
  9. I’m sure that they will get the chance to show how good they are in 17 months time. For anyone who thinks this lot are bad (& they are) and Labour are the answer, let’s see what you think after 12 months of the country being run by Basil Brush and Barbie Doll.
  10. How the fook is this the fault of the U.K. Govt as the loonie union official claims in this article. It happened just off the coast of France https://news.sky.com/story/at-least-one-person-dead-and-dozens-rescued-as-migrant-boat-crossing-channel-capsizes-12938447
  11. I really do wish that the media would have the balls to report things correctly. These people were not activists they were holograms who were committing criminal damage and should serve at least 7 years behind bars. But they won’t because of 2 reasons 1: the mis-reporting by the media gives them a platform to justify their actions 2: our magistrates who are utterly useless and now serve no purpose in our society due to the ridiculously lenient sentences that they hand out
  12. The ones that get my goat are junior doctors, the newly qualified ones in particular, who go on strike for a 35% pay rise. They have hardly any experience and knew exactly what they were getting themselves in to when they started their medical careers. Similar to your thoughts re nationalising the delivery of GP services, the government should consider going back to paying the education fees for doctors but in return the would be doctors would have to sign a decree to work exclusively for the NHS for the first 15/20 years, with a rigid pay scale for the first 5 years linked to progress via ability.
  13. I’m with @Kimberson this, must be why I enjoyed working in the Middle East so much 🤔
  14. That’s why I retired at 59 @Kimbers, albeit after a lucrative 4 years in Saudi but that’s why I quit my job here in 2009. When I declared my intentions to return to the U.K. in 2013 to the Saudis I was offered an eye watering amount of cash to stay for another 3 years. It was a tough decision to turn the offer down but I have never regretted it one bit, particularly with how my health panned out with the cancer diagnosis 3 years later. Me & the wife did a lot of travelling in those first 3 years after retiring, travelling to places and doing things which we would never have been able to do so after the diagnosis. As @C8RKH says, when you sit down and do the maths you realise that you don’t need as much as you think you do to enjoy a happy retirement.
  15. Junior Doctors………….. they get paid so much that they can afford to go on strike for 5 solid days………..don’t need a pay rise. All the newly qualified ones should be struck off, they knew what the situation was when they were studying.
  16. Also interesting that an ex Editor of The Sunhas voiced concerns that this story could result in big problems for the newspaper due to the way in which they have reported it. Personally, I hope that this comes true and this gutter excuse for a newspaper is put out of business. It is high time that the reigns were heavily tightened on the media in this country.
  17. Turned back now😠 What a shame, a nice little civil war in Russia for a few weeks would’ve gone down nicely. Wonder which hiding place Putin fled to this morning🤔
  18. Getting the results of my recent scans which show that, after 3 months taking the latest targeted drug, the cancer is again in retreat
  19. The Labour Party again this week. Everytime their front bench open their mouth all we hear are loads of personal insults aimed at Tory individuals. Just school ground antics, never tell us what their policies would be or how they would govern this county, god forbid us. I am 100% certain that I will not be voting for anyone at the next GE and I never thought it would come to me doing this. Can’t voteTory after how the are letting the public suffer while, it seems, every company dealing with consumers is getting mega rich based on spurious price increases. Can’t vote for a bunch of name calling school children which it seems don’t have a clue, and then who’s left, just a few wannabe politicians in their spare time. This country needs a bloody good shake up, come back Maggie🙏
  20. Unfortunately June is out for me Andy but thanks anyway
  21. @C8RKH stop making me vividly green with envy, when there’s something you want to do but can’t it really hits you in the guts……………………………….but wait…………….maybe I can join you on my newly acquired e-bike?
  22. IMO @ramjet many things are increasing in price above the levels that they need to because of the media hype behind it all. The media conditions us all in to believing that everything is going up so that when it does we were expecting it. This way enables the oil giants through artificially high petrol prices and the supermarket giants through artificially high food prices to make their large excess profits. I can only see it increasing until we condition ourselves to stop paying these artificially high prices. Well, that’s my opinion anyway. Unless someone can explain why the current crude oil prices should historically suggest that petrol should be at least 20p/litre less in the forecourts than it currently is. Many foods are also commodities or are derived from commodities and the same is true of many of those commodity prices

When I had to sell my Evora back in 2019 I did so via SOR through Silverstone. Aimee & Matt (don’t know I’d they are still there) handled every step in the professional manner that would be expected of them. Keep in mind that they have the potential liability of offering a warranty on the car so will expect it to be in a warrantable condition before accepting for sale, hence any associated costs to achieve this will be reflected in the sale fee.
  24. Unbelievable, totally fcking unbelievable. Our justice system is completely broken!
