  1. Damn sight better than visiting our local Tesco or Co-op...
  2. On Saturday I'd just opened the door for the Sainsbury's delivery when a mum walks round the back of the van with her lad in tow, she points at the Evora and turns to him and says "There, that's your favourite car, isn't it?!" Hard not to smile at that!
  3. Ref Colin's and Jay-Emm's posts re quality, the last couple of reviews I've read (on the 380 for certain and I think the 410) have made an issue of how much better the quality of the interior and in general has been than the reviewer's expectations and previous experience, so I don't know if things may be changing for the better. I also noted in the last interview with JG comments that it was unacceptable for example to have creaking noises from the dash. Obviously words are easy to say and harder to back up.
  4. While this is true in the EU, is it the case in the USA?
  5. Here's the thread on the front splitter: Made by member TBD, he might have a set still around. Alternatively there may be a member who purchased and has since decided not to fit or that they don't like the look (hard to imagine!). They are a quality item and easy to self fit (need to drill I think 4 new holes in the base of the front bumper, the other bolts fit existing holes). For me it definitely finishes off the look, with just the barge boards it always seemed there was something missing.
  6. https://www.deroure.com/diagrams.asp?TBL=6749&MAK=1&MDL=20&SMA=0&SMO=0&ST=&SC=0 Item 6. Part No A132D0052F £425 (+ VAT I think) per shock!
  7. Have I missed it or does anyone have the definitive low-down on what we're looking at here?
  8. I believe Iceland the supermarket chain was owned by the Icelandic banks shortly before they went bust in 2008 or thereabouts... I think Iceland the country's issue has been with Iceland the chain taking Icelandic companies to court for using the word Iceland in their names.
  9. I fitted the spray nozzle yesterday, same issue with the centre of the fan hitting the lip of the access hatch. Since the piece the nozzle fits in is quite flexible, I was thinking perhaps a small piece of rubber on the underside of the access hatch to push the piece the nozzle is in down slightly, either that or I suspect you would need to take some of the lip off the edge of the hatch.
  10. That's a good one at this time of year, I don't know if my car still has slightly leaky door/window seals, but I've found the leather on the sills and the front of the doors growing some white fur as the days get cold and damp and the car isn't getting as much use due to baby #2 arriving. It was never a problem in the elise with the only leather being the seats and centre console. I've just put one of these in the Evora to see how it does as I found the flake (calcium carbonate?) type caravan dessicants not overly effective last year. http://www.diy.com/departments/unibond-aero-360-moisture-absorber/307283_BQ.prd
  11. Mine has happily sat for a month or so with no issues there. Sits on a C-tek 3.8 trickle charge. Normally I just check the tyres and away. And then find a quiet road to do some heavy braking to clean the discs...
  12. What I don't get about Evo just now is why three weeks on there's no mention of the 410 on their website? Was it Evo that crashed the demo at the launch? Car Magazine were annoyingly inconsistent with the 400 reviews. One month they were praising it in a comparison with the Vantage GT12 in a blast across Wales, praising the bespoke sound of the engine. The next month they knocked it out of their sports car of the year test for having a boring humdrum engine noise...
  13. Can you post a link, all I can find is the red silicone or black neoprene on their website? http://www.revotec.com/acatalog/Flexible-Ducting-and-Accessories.html Having said that the red would go nicely with the car colour...
  14. Yes, a fair portion of it is word for word the same. He seems to be the only one so far that has taken against the gear shift.
  15. Have I missed something or has there not been a peep from Evo on the 410? Can't find anything on their website. Kind of surprised, have Lotus fallen out with them? Or are Evo just at 6's and 7's with losing so many staff at once?
  16. I can hope, since I could use one for Kalli's old Evora... It's progress they've made it as far as the website!
  17. Let me leave this with you: http://www.2bular.co.uk/exige-s-v6/trackday-silencing He also has a page up for the Evora S, presumably there will be versions for the 400, 410 and anyone else who might need one... Given a choice between an Exige V6 or a 410, I'd be in a 410 in a heartbeat. Choosing between a 400 and a 410, it really depends how day to day liveable you want I think. A lot of the reviews so far have commented on the carbon seats being quite unforgiving.
  18. That does look good in the grey. I'm amazed though with the carbon roof and tailgate that the sail panel in between isn't carbon also. What proportion of owners won't be paying a visit to HKFever to get that changed?
  19. My service book has the spark plugs at 54000 miles, which coincidentally I've just hit (50000 belonging to previous owners...) so I am planning on getting them done. I was kind of intrigued if Snows would quote the spark plugs from the Lotus or Lexus price lists when prompted but as they haven't yet replied to their online query form (I'm at work offshore Egypt so phoning is tricky) and the autoreply email suggests the site is closed (see picture) it's looking increasingly like SWLC will get the work by default.
  20. I think there's less that's fundamental likely to go wrong on a Lotus than a Porsche (engines don't have a reputation for going pop) so I was much less concerned about a pre-purchase inspection than when I was looking at 996's. I think the main things that determine the price will be unsurprisingly mileage, condition and which option packs it has. Colour combinations will also play a part with some appealing to fewer people, hence the cars hang around longer, paprika leather anyone? Having said that mileage affects price, if it's in good condition I would have no hesitation on buying a higher mileage example, mine was 5 years old and on 50000 miles when I bought it and other than wear on the seat bolster you wouldn't be able to tell. Sport pack seems desirable, close ration gearbox also, for me the premium pack (leather dash etc) was a must as in my eyes it lifts the ambience of the cabin a lot, others don't mind. Tech pack seems optional as the various items can mostly be fitted from the aftermarket. I would second everyone else and say go and see a few, take test drives but if it floats your boat for colour and options then be prepared that you might buy the first you see!
  21. My Evora N/A sits quite happily on a Ctek 3.8. Charge unit in the garage, 2x extension leads to run under the garage door and across the drive into the boot of the car outside, permanently wired connection from the battery run through into the boot area (tucked in the cargo net you 400 drivers don't have...). Easy to connect/disconnect etc. Car is left for weeks at a time while I'm offshore and has never struggled to start up.
  22. I've got my first service coming up for the Evora (6th for the car, 54000 miles). I'm living in Exmouth so for a Lotus stamp I've a choice of driving to Plymouth and Snows Lotus or twice as far to the other side of Bristol and Williams. Or for an indie down to SWLC in Lifton which is a bit further than Plymouth but out in the styx as far as wasting time when I'm there. Snows would be most convenient for me as I can kill time in Plymouth, but being a Toyota/Lexus garage and servicing only for Lotus I don't know how much Lotus traffic they will see through the workshop. I'm looking to get Miguel's stainless mudguard brackets fitted, as well as service (inc sparkplugs) and MOT. Has anyone got any recommendations (or not) for any of the three options?
  23. I'm getting on fine with the Yokohama V105s on my 2011 N/A, standard sizes/load ratings for 18"/19" wheels.
  24. Given the annual marketing spend of the VAG empire and the number of press junkets at their disposal through the average year I'm sure there wouldn't need to be anything so crass as actual coercion... Everyone knows where their bread's buttered. Until Lotus is part of a major group with an actual marketing budget and leverage rather than being owned by the one car maker with probably a lower profile than Lotus itself that's the way it's going to be.
