  1. Hi Sparky/Gary,
One of the Esprit memebers informed me that you did some work on his Esprit.
    I have a 1978 Esprit S2 that need a clutch replacement.
Will you be interested in doing the job?
I was informed you at in the Watford area, is this correct?
    Best Regards
    Kam

Sorry Kam, I have no experience of any specialists in London.  Perhaps post it on the forum and see what people use locally?

      Hi Kam

Happy to do it (especially S2!), but unfortunately wouldn't be until late Feb/Mar.  I've shut down for winter and won't start again until the winter period is over.  If you're in a rush, the only guy I could recommend is Gerald at GST in Newmarket.  He's very very good, but always busy!

      And yes, Watford.

      Cheers,

      Gary

Your the man for a strange issue on an SE. Starts and idles fine at between 750 and 1,000 RPM. Try increase revs gets to about 1750 and starts to hunt then missfire. Tried Esprit Scan and no faults recorder. It did have TPS issue which we replaced, set at correct values. But still the same. HELP.

I had a GT3 recently where the turbo hose was absolutely fine externally, but had delaminated inside.  You certain it's clear?

Aha!  Gearbox has been removed, so logical guess would be an issue with crank sensor.  Did you leave it in when removing the box? Otherwise, I'm still thinking DI module (under the coils), but check that crank sensor!

Is this a new acquisition?  Still sounds to me like coils/ignition module.  Any evidence they've been replaced?  I ask because a certain cheap US replacement will throw speed sensor codes.  I would definitely swap out the coils and, more importantly, the ignition module they sit on  Any handy donor car hanging around?

First, check it with the turbo hose removed, just in case the hose is delaminating inside.  Other than that, I can only imagine coil!  As long as you're sure MAP readings are OK.  Keep me informed...
